Nice- his email is here - https://gomason.com/staff-directory/andrew-lieber/399

Let me know what he says if you reach out to him. If you feel more comfortable feel free to DM me. I don't know Andrew so he isn't someone I have specifically reached out to for information.

Check your email 6 years from now when the school decides to revisit the practice facility again.
Yeah I can't express enough to people on here how much this project isn't happening. At best they'll shift a few walls around and repaint some stuff. But the project as is being imagined on here is not going to happen.

"The new Community, Music, and Wellbeing Center at George Mason University will be a 25,000-square-foot building that will host practices for “The Green Machine,” GMU’s athletic “pep” band/ensemble, as well as recreational athletic activities. The facility will consist of a full-sized NCAA basketball court, a flexible secondary recreation space for intermural pickup basketball and volleyball games, space for yoga and exercise classes, conference rooms, equipment storage, group rooms, small offices, and spaces for building services.

Our team is partnering with Powers Brown Architecture using a design-build delivery method."

Some environmental documents for both the Community, Music, and Wellbeing Center and new Practice facility are on DEQ's website here: https://public.deq.virginia.gov/OEIR/GMU/

Here's an excerpt from the rough site plan for the RAC addition/practice facility:

Was just looking thru the BOV deck for their meeting this Thursday (thanks for the heads up Kaufman).

There is a page dedicated to the basketball practice facility, and it includes most of the details already shared here/what we already know: $30M addition to the RAC, same renderings they shared 6 years ago, etc. One new nugget of info on there though is that the estimated completion date is Summer 2026, a whopping 10 years after they first announced the overall project.

It's obvious that the previous AD/Admin de-prioritized this/dropped the ball after they got the "easy" Phase 1 done, because even for Mason's standards, it's ridiculous that a project like this should take a decade to complete.
