Is there a reason why Simpkins' name is never brought up in connection with head coaching jobs? I would have no problem with Skinn being the pick but at this point Duane has spent more time at Mason than Tony did. Wonder if KE is planning on bringing him to Providence? Or if Duane stayed would he have any success getting any of the current roster or '23 signings to stay?

The clock is ticking. If Mason can't sort this out in the next week or two, it's back on the trash heap for us for good, I'm afraid.

And all the decent transfer players are picked up from the portal. This has the potential to be a major disaster of a season next year the longer we wait. My fear is most of the current team transfers out and we wait too long to hire a coach and we basically have to settle with filling our roster with borderline D1 players.

Former Mason athletics official Kevin Mcnamee on twitter is suggesting we hire the AD first and coach second. While this makes sense in most cases, this is not most cases. If we wait until an AD is hired (what's the time on this anyway, its been months!?) we might as well punt the program off a bridge.

Since the admin has farted around with the AD hire, many candidates likely will be hesitant to accept the job. Lucky for us, Tony might be the exception to that.
