I'd like to thank the announcer for scaring the sh*t out of everyone by twice telling the crowd that the roads were icing over and to drive carefully; the first around 6 minutes remaining and the second time around 2 min to go. While he was completely incorrect and shouldn't have made those statements (Braddock Rd, the Beltway, Safeway parking lot and my neighborhood were bone dry), it did thin out the crowd early (along with our play) so traffic leaving after the game wasn't too bad.

I'm also mad that #10 from SBU didn't get in. I wanted to see Binghamton, NY represent. I'm sure he could have gotten an easy layup like the rest of their guards.

We have an office up there. I spent over 20 weeks up there last year on travel.

At least when Westhead's teams gave up 52 in a half, you knew they were trying to let the opponent score. Defense was an afterthought for him.

Hewitt is supposed to be a strong defensive coach. And yet, we can't even guard St. Bonventure. Ridiculous.

I once heard Nik Mirich (IIRC) joke at a house party that Westhead's defensive coaching instruction went something like "don't waste too much energy on defense, because we know we can simply out-score the other teams on the other end." I don't think this was far from the truth, and it was said by one of his own players.

Please stop using the refs as an excuse. They weren't that bad.
Come on. I didn't say the refs excused everything about the team's play, and I wasn't defending Hewitt either. But blame where blame is due. This was homecoming, after all.

Well, this, is a whole other gay story that's been addressed here before I'm sure. lol
What does "addressed here before" mean? That one or two people voiced their own personal opinion about it and decided that settled it from here on out for everyone else? And you don't even know that it happened.

No, I've been right all along and you just don't want to admit it. And who knows why.
Homecoming doesn't mean preferential treatment, but what it does mean is that refs don't have an excuse for creating a home court disadvantage. I don't mean to be rude, but it gets irritating having to spell out every obvious thing.

Mason creates its own home court disadvantage. Are we even .500 at home under Hewitt? Last win was Jan. 2nd struggle against powerhouse Penn. Still no conference home wins - ridiculous. It's amazing how quickly this program is turning into an afterthought in college bball. I sure hope Cabrera & anybody else that has to make decision about Hewitt aren't blaming the refs.

The defense is the most inexcusable mind numbing thing about this team. Nobody can keep themselves in between their opponent and the basket.

What was worst was when we'd score in the second half and St. Bonnie's would get right to the rim in seven seconds or so.

No help defense; multiple players couldn't even stay in one guy.

Worst d since Westhead no question and I agree that you could argue those teams at least saved energy for offense.

Even with an emerging Jenkins easily the worst frontcourt year (this and last) in over 20 years. Awful. Just awful.

Dude. Relax. I was referring to a school having "Homecoming" in February.

You know, GMU could actually move homecoming to the fall even without football, but it would mean having it against a non-conference foe.

But then again, our last several homecomings were against teams no one really cares about anyway, at least if we move it to late November, we can have some control over who comes in here.

With the two steps forward we took at UMass we took five steps back yesterday, BTW.

Embarassing and humiliating.
Jollay, you just need to be patient. When Hewitt gets HIS guys on the team, we are going to rock. He only brings in the best, the type of guys that are ready to go from day one. Those L guys just can't do much in Hewitt's brand of basketball. Take last night as an example. All of our scoring came from Wright, Allen and Williams. Oh, wait....

Most of the second half, watching our zone....Im just stumped wondering why even CYO teams can grasp the concept of a zone...but the one we run is the most confusing and ineffective one of all time. Instead of a simple zone, like the ones Hewitt sees run against him that shut us down most every game.....ours involves guys switching, and then people never helping. Lets not even start on our hilarious press.

Also another issue to me is Moore. His lack of a shot is a nightmare, and is really handicapping to the offense. Not as if the offense runs smoothly anyway, but it really throws a wrench in the gear of an already choppy ineffective system.

I'm not really sure why everyone harps on our offense. Our shooting numbers and St. Bonnies shooting numbers are almost identical. The difference: 33-36 from the FT line versus our 19-22 (in fact, same exactly FT shooting percentage as well).

Offense is NOT our problem.

Offense is NOT our problem.

I would say Jenkins, Copes, Moore and Holloway missing a combined 15 of their 16 shot attempts from the floor is a big problem. Our shooting percentage was skewed because Wright and Allen combined to shoot 62%.

This team can be very good on the rare night when three or four players contribute, as evidenced by the UMass game. Yesterday was an example of two guys showing up offensively and the rest of the team waiting for the homecoming parade to start.

Right. Certainly not coincidental we almost always foul more than opponents, even at home.

It's cause we don't move our feet on defense, and we never are in position.

Yes, but was that a product of a poor offensive scheme or just guys missing shots? And the fact that Jenkins was also 7-8 from the FT line points to the later.

And to put another question to you, do we HAVE to score 90+ points every game and shoot 60% from the floor to give ourselves a chance to win?

The good news is Holloway will rebound against St. Louis, the bad news is Wright and Allen will suck that day. because George Mason.
