I just want GMU in the top 4 so that they can get the double bye. That's the only way they can win the tournament I'd say.
Probably correct. It happens, but if you're not good enough to get the double bye, you're probably not good enough to win the tourney.

Both SLU (2019) and Richmond (2022) won as 6 seeds.

It’s usually the extra game that does a team in, but there is a day off now so that might not be as big of a deal (or it will prevent more upsets in the semis…who knows?)

Duquesne and SLU are interesting picks in those spots (in the sense that both feel too high).

Loyola being picked bottom 4 after all the transfers they brought in too. If they finish that low they’re going to have long-term
Issues competing in the A10 (kinda like us).

Jim, normally I'd agree that Billy Lange-coached teams are, by definition, overrated. Objectively speaking, he is a very, very bad coach.

However, in spite of his professional limitations he has managed to assemble - and keep - a very talented bunch. We all know how important guard play is and SJU has it in spades. Greer looked lost the first half of last season but he was lights out the latter half. Reynolds is the likely POY IMO, and I expect Cam Brown to take another step forward - just as he did prior to last season.

That is a hell of a backcourt.

Outside of Reynolds, the most gifted player on that team is 6' 9" Rasheer Fleming. He's a defensive standout and match-up nightmare for the opposition. If his offensive game has evolved over the summer, then look out. Klaczek only needs to rebound and play D. As if that's not enough they have a potential ace-in-the hole in 7 ft Christ Essandoko.

If they had a capable coach they would run away with the A10 title - barring any serious injuries - and may still do so in spite of Lange.

I tend to agree with you on SLU. I also think vcu is overrated. Shulga a 1st team all conference player??? Pff...

Talent is nice and all but all you need to do is look at Langes track record. It’s great to have talent on paper but I’m also not buying into a coach who has never been over .500 in the a10 and hasn’t been over .500 in a year in a very long time. Let him prove me wrong.

They can have a great year and I would never credit Lange for the turnaround. He's proven to be incapable of adjusting, or adapting his scheme to fit his players.

My point is this SJU team is his most talented - by far - and I think they will win in spite of Lange's obvious deficiencies. We'll see.

I got bored and looked what each school's MTE and "showcase" games are. Below is the order of the Blue Ribbon preseason poll. Loyola, UMass, Richmond and Davidson all finished last year worst than us and are picked below us this year, yet were invited to better games than we were. Yes, winning makes things better, but UMass hasn't been to the NCAA in 10 years. What have they done other than be mediocre like us?? Was it because we didnt have an AD to help broker some of these games?

Any idea which game has been officially designated as Homecoming? I'm assuming Saturday, March 2 (Duquesne) or Saturday, March 9 (Richmond). We have no Saturday home games in February. The only other options are Jan 6, 20, or 27.

I have not seen anything on any of the releases.
