Not second-guessing the coach, but I thought Ticket did a nice job against Collins and was surprised we went away from that matchup. Collins can be bothered by length but it was obvious very early XJ had nothing for him.
What a huge advantage to have a PG capable of single-handedly dominating the game like that.
Disagree. We had plenty of answers but just couldn’t hit FTs in OT. Which is probably due to exhaustion. We lost this one because we have no bench. But as Tblack33 said, just wait til we do!
This in a nutshell...we didn't deserve to win the game. We could have: we had a 5 pt lead in the 1st OT and we could not do the little things that dictate whether you win or lose. Still, glad I was there and pretty good energy for the last 15-20 mins. A fun game...remember we had very few of these during the Paulsen and Hewitt eras.
We would be a Top 25 team with a Collins-like PG. It's a huge advantage.

Bonus points met @gmutom in the goldroom tonight. For being 2/3 empty, the pat dome was absolutely rocking 2nd half off. Idk what else this team has to do to get people in the door. GSII and you other miserable old sluts, I’ll pay your way to come see this team live so you can stop your bitching on the internet if you’ll just show up.
Lot to be happy about tonight. Our guys really busted their tales. No issues with the effort whatsoever other than the last play of the game when we let a guy drive the length of the floor in 5 seconds.
That said, our bench is a complete non-factor, and it proved costly in a double OT game. What if we had won a similar game in the A10 tournament and had to play the next day? Guys are going to burn out playing that many minutes, especially with Josh already gimpy.
Also, I hate to beat a dead horse because I really like XJ, but he was exposed on both ends. Some of that is coaching, and I’m sure Kim would acknowledge that after watching the game again. Why not put Ticket on Collins the whole game, and why let Xavier have the ball at the end of OT when he’s the only player on the floor who’s not a threat from the perimeter? We played right into their hands on that possession and never even got a shot off with a chance to win the game. That’s inexcusable.
I just hope there is no carryover Saturday, because we are very streaky and can’t let this game turn into another 4-game losing streak.

Thanks to Patriot99 I got to enjoy the 2nd half with floor seats. My man.
1. This was probably the most entertaining game I've been to in 10 years. Reminds me of the early-mid 2000s era at the TerrorDome with the amount of energy and effort from the team. Great game and kids can keep their heads high.
2. Our baseball team and women's LAX teams brought their teams out and brought much needed energy 2nd half. They really need to get all mason sports teams involved and get them to the games.... this is the best we have been in 8-9 years playing at home. The assistant baseball coach got the baseball team standing and engaged most of the 2nd half. Need more of this!!!
3. Not to beat a dead horse but we HAVE to make our FT's and be better than 80% each night to put teams away. So many missed oppty's to put it away at the line.
4. Double OT... Oduro, Coop and others were just gassed. Could tell they were so tired but gave it their all nonstop. They really wanted this one.
5. XJ.... Ugh. Just can't turn the ball over in crucial moments, we need Coop or Gaines bringing the ball up in those moments. He whiffed on a bunch of layups that are just head scratching. Not gonna beat this to death as we all know we need a PG.... Dinkins will hopefully be our savior.
6. St. Louis is young.... they will be much improved next year and will be a tough game moving forward. Need to look at improving perimeter D on them. Didn't think they would make as many 3's as they did.
This one hurts but we can play with anyone and can certainly beat Davidson. Future is bright.... keep grinding.

Attendance is a problem. My alumuni buddy has a kid going to Marquette and he showed me a pic their their last game...15K. At tonight's game I could clearly hear Travis and his SLU assitant's yelling from150 yards away. This should not be possible. I think they disrupted a couple of our FT's toward the end of the game.

Regarding ticket on Collins. Jimerson had his worst college stat line shooting tonight due to Ticket being all over him. He can’t guard everyone
Their Doucebag assistant coach kept yelling box out and other things during our FT's in the 2nd half and OT that could of certainly got to our shooters. The band kept yelling at him to shut up but could still hear him across the court.
Nesbitt came off the floor after the handshake and ran up to our baseball team and talked crap/flicked them off and then went in to locker room. Total Dbag move.

How we did not have more fans there tonight is beyond me. AD really needs to get butts in seats from locals and better attendance from students. There were multiple sections where the first 10 rows had 4-6 people in them and rows completely open.
Pick a big consulting company or go to local high schools and give tickets away at this point.
