Really like this kid's all-around game. Nice fluid motion on his shot and finishes and handles well with both hands. Good court vision as well. Impressive sophomore video.

I really liked his game too. The only negative I saw was that he doesn't really elevate at all on his jumper. He's got decent size, but he may have trouble getting that shot off over bigger guards. Certainly fixable.

Didn't Relvao or Grayer take Mayimba's spot?
We have 12, on scholarship, on the roster right now. Paulsen could pick someone up mid season though.

Our team after this season will be the definition of a young team. 11 players will be freshman/soph.

interesting... based on his twitter, it looks like the Head Coach of Spotswood girls team who, who appears to be close to Justin is the father of Taylor Dodson, a starter on the Mason Women's BBall team. Wonder if that helped with his decision.

Paulsen had better be a good judge of talent. If his first two recruiting classes are busts, then he will be a bust. Not a criticism, just stating the obvious. His next two classes will be much smaller so these guys will be Mason basketball for the next few years.

Ike Tate had a deadly set shot, but needed time and space to get it off.

I'm curious why Kier doesn't elevate on his jumper. He has enough vertical to be able to dunk at 6-3, so it's not like he just can't jump. Definitely gonna have to work on that if he's going to play in the A-10.

A bad habit that never got fixed by any of his HS coaches I guess. You're right, I remember Tate having a very similar jumpshot. I think the good news is that his mechanics looks fine, so I would think that getting more elevation shouldn't be too hard.

Depends on one's opinion of what constitutes a "bust."

If 4 kids from each of these first two classes wind up being rotation players, that would be damn good.

Based on how things usually work with large recruiting classes, the kids who are glued to the bench will eventually read the writing on the wall and transfer to a school where they can play.

The reality is there will be some attrition, whether DP is a good talent evaluator or not.
