It doesn't appear that most of you are being very "supportive". Stop the negativity. Hijacking every thread saying Hewitt sucks hurts our program. Instead, continue to go to games and cheer as loud as possible. Make it a tough place for opposing teams to play. We played a competitive game against the #19 team on the road and almost took it. We are the best winless team in the country.
We are turning the corner. This team has what it takes to rattle off six wins in a row. Let's help them do that. Copes finished the last two months of last season averaging 8 pts, 7 rebs in 27 minutes per game. I see no reason he can't play at that level if he gets 25 mins a game. The A10 is just really good this year. Even though we have beaten A10 teams in recent years it is much better this year. Our offense isn't really that bad as we just recently scored 81 points on St Louis, one of the top defenses in the country. So it seems like all we need to do is decrease our turnovers, score more inside, hit more 3s, share the ball better, play better interior defense and get more steals. Once we plug those holes in the boat, it should be smooth sailing.
Looking towards the future, I have confidence in his recruiting ability. He recruited NBA talent at GT. When he gets his guys in next year, everything will be OK. I'm actually looking forward to how athletic we will be next year. Ignore the fact that we will be young. I think the experience thing is so overplayed in sports. Additionally, maybe a stud SG transfer perhaps? Four out of the five probable starters for next year were on the floor for much of the second half against SL and looked pretty damn good.
This season is a valley but eventually Hewitt will take us to the top of the mountain.
