A lot of people aren’t gonna want to hear it but Tony coached that one away. Some questionable subs, and no changes when they started hitting open 3s.

I haven’t watched this game yet, but it’s one of the most frustrating things about this team is our bad 3-point defense. What are our conference numbers? Because it feel like we are giving up at least 40% from 3 in conference…it has to be close to dead last.

One announcer questioned why Okojie was guarding a much taller inbounder under their basket. Fordham scored on the play I believe.

I don’t like Fordham. I don’t like watching mason play basketball there.

That is all right now.

I think the announcers may have said GMU is last in 3 point D during conference play.

It is the major problem to solve in the offseason. We aren’t going to be a top 4 team in a guard heavy league playing piss poor perimeter defense. I don’t care how talented the roster is (cough SJU cough).

Where is that nice match up zone we had? Seemed to work well.

From Kenpom data, after tonight's game, in conference we are giving up 36.7% from 3 which puts us 12th in the league. Actually Fordham is worst at 40.7%. Unfortunately, we're 10th conference-wide in offensive 3 pt %, and rather ordinary nationally.

But your larger point is well-taken--we're not good defending 3s. We are 298th nationally, allowing 35.6%. The national average is 33.8%.

We're actually 10th nationally in 2 pt % defense---I know Tony has mentioned this on the Coach's show before indicating we needed to get better defending the 3, to complement our 2 pt defense.

I like Tony and think he will be a great coach in time but one huge thing I was looking forward to was finally being ‘tough’. The last 10 years has been frustrating in how soft Mason has been.

It really hasn’t changed and it’s a little shocking given who Tony is. He’s got to fix that, this is a game someone just has to nutt up and win it. Instead fumble it away by dropping a rebound. Doesn’t matter if it’s ugly, tough teams find a way to win.

It would be more understandable if this team just sucked but they don’t, they lack senior leaders on the team and lack that tough mindset. Hopefully they find that. That 06’ team had it, 08’ and 11’ since then it’s been non existent. Tony can only do some much from the sideline.

May be wrong but has Mason won a single game they lost the points off turnover battle? That’s been a major difference in the loses.

Not going to win many games when your 1 and 2 starting guards combine for six unforced turnovers. Mason beat Fordham handily in nearly every category except turnovers, 3-pointers, and the final score.

Ronnie was sorely missed tonight. As soon as I heard he was out of the line-up I knew we were in trouble. Ronnie is the glue-guy. As Ronnie goes, the team goes. No Ronnie, no success.

That game gave me a migraine... damnit.

I think the game would’ve been a little much for Ronny with their physicality and ball pressure, but at the least he would have given a few plays off at point for baraka. Tre wood came in, turned the ball over and got yanked

Our 2-point defensive stat is so misleading, because teams know we won’t and can’t defend the 3 and are more than happy to take advantage.

It would be the equivalent of an NFL team bragging about giving up the least amount of field goals in the league despite giving up the most touchdowns.

And why are they so bad at defending the three? They have the length and athleticism to defend the three

This is why. Lack of awareness and lack of effort.
