Roster: https://fordhamsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster
Stats: https://fordhamsports.com/documents/2024/1/8/MBB_Season_Stats.pdf

Probable Starters? 9 Rams have started this year so your guess is as good as mine as to who will take the floor first against us. The 5 below started the last game against Duquesne. The starting lineup the game before against Davidson included Will Richardson, Elijah Gray, and Japhet Medor.
6’4” Kyle Rose (9.8 ppg overall but 13.3 in A10 play) - Senior
6’5” Antrell Charlton (6.9 ppg) - Senior
6’9” Abdou Tsimbila (7.1 ppg & 6.1 reb) - Senior
6’6” Jahmere Tripp (4.7 ppg) - Freshman
6’7” Roman Dean (4.3 ppg) - Sophomore

Reserves averaging double figure minutes:
6’3” Will Richardson (10.0 ppg) - 17 starts - Sophomore
6’6” Joshua Rivera (8.4 ppg) - 11 starts - Sophomore
6’8” Elijah Gray (9.7 ppg overall but 11.1 in A10 play) - 9 starts - Sophomore
6’0” Japhet Medor (10.7 ppg) - 22 starts - Senior

Team Stats:
Fordham averages 72.1 points per game while giving up 73.7.

The Rams shoot 41.2% from the floor and 31.9% from 3.
Opponents are shooting 45.2% from the field and 37.4% from 3.

The Rams shoot 66.0% from the free throw line.

They are currently out rebounding by their opponents by 1.1 boards per game and average 13.1 turnovers per contest.

Thoughts: Coach Keith Urgo led the Rams to a 25-8 (12-6) record last year and were the talk of the league. This year they have struggled with just 5 wins at home. They don’t have anyone who looks like they’ll go off for 25+. That being said, it seems like we always play them on the road and they have given us fits in the past. Physical and ugly would be the way to best characterize past games. We’re just 1-4 in the Bronx since joining the A10 and that win was during the 19-20 season.

Discuss.

GIVING DAY 2023
I’ll be going on Tuesday and I’m looking forward to it. Don’t expect them to have the atmosphere they had on Friday night.

they always give us fits and it won’t be easy, that said this is winnable and really no excuse to not come back with a w.

This is absolutely must win game. The only terrible loss on season was GW. This would be just as bad if not worse. Everything else has been pretty much par for course with big win coming against Dayton.

Fordham is really awful, no two ways about it. Common opponents says Mason should win but Gota figure out how to win on road still. This one will turn a solid season into a hoe hum year quickly.

Guys need to dig deep and find a way to win 3 out of 4. Get the 6/7 and get Richmond Loyola or vcu on Friday. 2 of the 3 teams they likely can’t beat but regardless go out on winning note and then hope for best in NY

Kelley is a big reason for our success. Those 3 pt shots are amazing for a big guy. One area he can improve on is his ball handling. Too many give a ways. Since most of these games are won or lost on turnovers, we have to stop the careless passing. Keep the team TO below ten, we have a good chance to win.

I like Kelly and he can hit the three, but he is a finesse player. Jalen Haynes will ensure next year we don't get punked on the inside. The guy will be a monster for us.

He needs to get "Will Thomas" on the inside. On offense and especially defense.

Fordham is really bad. They should be able to win if it's under 15. They had 11 vs Dayton so 10 Is a little low standard.

Bad feeling about this game. We always have a problem with Fordham. By all metrics this should be a blowout for us, but ....... we just suffered the biggest a**-whooping in recent memory.

Gonna stay hopeful and predict a one-point buzzer beating win, and an ugly but successful righting of the ship by Captain Tony.

I don’t think Kelly is the problem on the interior. He’s not an elite rim protector but we are top 50 in 2 point FG defense for a reason.

We’ve had problems when we had to guard two big sets and that’s because Hall and Newton are our 4s and they’re really big guards, not power forwards (both Loyola games, UMass giving up all those offensive rebounds to Cross). And let’s also be honest, our guards haven’t shown up on the defensive side in a few games (both Loyola games and the GW away I’m thinking of specifically).

We’ve got Duquesne to play and they’ve got like 10 power towards on that team.

They have to recruit another forward to go with Hayes next year.

Gotta find a way to bring home the W today.

Kyle Rose has been averaging over 13 points a game in conf play and I suspect he is going to be a focus point for our defense tonight. Also shooting 40% from deep. If he goes off, or someone else, it could be a long night for us. Seems like many of their players have been around forever.

Rose Hill has been a house of horrors to some degree for Mason. In 2018, Mason blew a 20 point lead and in 2022, they played a craptastic game where XJ bricked like 10 wide open 3s and didn't even score 50 points if I recall.

Have to wonder how much losing Paulsen impacted them this year. Jokes aside, they are struggling without him.

I think losing Quisenberry and Moore was damaging to that team’s success. Everyone was talking up Richardson in the offseason and he has not been a solution.

They’re probably going to leave Billups open. Hopefully he pulls a GW and nails his open shots.
