You cannot fine players or dock their NIL/rev share payments. They would have to be classified as employees of the university and part of a collective bargaining unit to do that.

• Termination if the athlete leaves the school, the team, or enters the transfer portal.
• Restrictions on promoting political organizations, sports gambling, alcohol, tobacco products, adult entertainment, or substances banned by the NCAA.
• A clause in the Big 12 school's contract stating that if an athlete fails to disclose known physical or mental health conditions that could impair his ability to compete, the school can reduce payments by 50%.

Buyout provisions & market adjustments​

Compensation amounts are laid out in agreements but are not fixed. The Big Ten school's contract states that the school can adjust a player's payout based on marketability. For example:

• Winning the Heisman Trophy would increase a player's value.
• Reduced playing time would decrease it.

Buyout provisions exist as well. An NIL agent told CBS Sports that if a player transfers, they would seek to have the new school cover the remainder of what is owed to the original school."

The team defense is still a bigger issue than Mincy’s shooting. Even if he had gone 3-4 from 3 in the last game we still lose it by 5 because we let them shoot over 50% from 3 and 56% from the floor. A good defense doesn’t give up 82 points on its home floor.

We lost to GW and Richmond for the same reasons (although GW was pretty terrible all around). You can’t go down 24 points on the road and expect to come back.

I dont think any of that applies here. Theres no one that is going to put a provision in their contracts that they can dock rev share pay for "lack of care" or even "performance" because that would effectively tell players "we dont want you."

It’s all tied together. Team is playing with zero confidence right now and duh, that has a lot to do with our best player performing as a shell of himself physically. Just not sure I’ve ever seen a team whose attitude was so clearly driven by one guy.

I think Skinn also nails it in the presser when he says it’s a rotating set of guys who seem to be motivated on any given night and there’s just not enough of them to make a good rotation.

I think it also magnifies how thin our talent level is despite having so much "depth." The only possible replacement for Mincy would be Booker, who is still too way too raw too step into that role. And there is no player on this roster who can replace Riley's offense despite his glaring defensive lapses (his 12 points last night were third on the team).

The biggest misconception on these boards is that we get much better defensively when he's not in the game. Ellington gets moved around too much, and Kanga plays like you would expect a young big man to play. He brings great energy and athleticism and has a sky-high ceiling, but he is not a scoring threat and is still learning to play defense at this level. I would love to see him use more of his fouls knocking guys on their a** on defense rather than wasting them on careless offensive fouls (he had two last night and chould have been called for a third on a clear out).

The bottom line is we are what we are at this point, and we simply can't win without scoring from Mincy and Allenspach. Teams game-plan to stop those two players, and that's not going to change moving forward.

To be clear, I was only providing Kory Mincy's recent statistics. I was not blaming losses on his shooting since incurring the injury.

I just hope that he's receiving sound medical advice.

I dont think any of that applies here. Theres no one that is going to put a provision in their contracts that they can dock rev share pay for "lack of care" or even "performance" because that would effectively tell players "we dont want you."

I was not implying that it applied specifically to GMU. I was just pointing out that there evidently is no standard student-athlete contract, so a school could incorporate provision(s) for adjusting compensation.
