Another home loss, our 14th in less than 2 seasons. That's right, our 14th home loss under Captain Dipsh*t in the past two years. Richmond 72 - Mason 51. We have 24 turnovers and shoot 5 - 25 from the free throw line. A Homecoming crowd of 4,500 leaves disgusted. In his post game news conference Hewitt claims that he likes the direction the program is heading and that, "We're really close to being a good team." I liken Paul Hewitt to Tiger Woods these days, no real clue about the state of his game.

Yeah - Hewitt's definitely not a self aware person. Or maybe he is. I wonder what he thought when an AD in TOC was dumb enough to contact him about GMU's opening. Was it "I'm not a good coach, but I can't pass up this absurdly generous contract." I don't think it was, based on the excuses the guy makes.

There will be about 7K there if I had to guess, and 500 to 1K will be students. Homecoming always draws a crowd regardless of record, unfortunately.

I posted this a while back- the band strategically gets loud when Hewitt is introduced during pregame. Is it to drown out the boos? I do hear a few when his name is announced, but not as many as I thought there would be the past few home games.

The band has always gotten loud after the last player is introduced. I would assume further away from the band the boos are easier to pick up.

U of R is 1-8 on the road this year, with the only win being at vcu.

That said

Mason rallies from down 16 in the second half, leading the casual fans who showed up for homecoming to exclaim, "What a great game!"

At this point, I fully expect the A-10 final to involve Fordham and Mason. It has been a ridiculous year. Duquesne appeared to be a high school team when we played them, and then they turn around and destroy GW? Fordham has been a joke forever and should have beaten us. We can't beat anyone on the road...except vcu. Rhody looks like worldbeaters most of the year, then goes on the road and chokes at St. Joe's? Davidson is all over the place. The worst coach in the league might be Derek Kellogg at UMass, and they have won 5 straight and are tied for first.

Go figure.

Having talked to Hewitt on more than one occasion, he is definitely not self-aware.

Whoa, that came from a message board, not out of my mouth, hence the link.

It was tongue and cheek. It wasn't meant personally! It was supposed to be a joke saying how Kellogg is the worst coach in the league and I was saying how he isn't. Sorry.

The only person I think who might be a worse coach in the A10 is Crews (keep in mind we took his best team ever to overtime twice last season).

I think I would take every single one of the other coaches over Hewitt and that includes Pecora, Martelli, Kellogg and Ferry.
