Does anyone know what Hewitt said in the post game presser?

I heard him say he was going to really think about his career after the season. He wouldn't talk about next year when pressed, but a source with knowledge said he would not be back.

.. Then I woke up and saw we lost by a lot to Dayton.

In a span of just over 14 minutes, bridging the two halves, Dayton held us to just one field goal, going on a 30-6 run. Clearly the team gave zero f***s about playing the game of basketball tonight.

so many people left early, I was able to get off campus like it was a women's game.

This game has been the first I've seen in a loooong time where the players looked like they didn't want to be there. No emotion from anyone, Jalen looked like a freshman and lost on almost every play, and guys didn't want to play defense at all.

BA and Edwards showed the most amount of hustle tonight and I applaud their efforts.

I truly think the mental aspect of losing such close games and having so many heartbreakers has caught up to the entire team. I don't see us recovering from this. Homecoming may ignite a spark in them and we will hopefully play defense that game or the same result of tonight will happen in that game.

We seriously need to get in touch with that Navy Seal Lone Survivor guy Marcus Luttrell and pay him to come talk to our guys and give a motivational speech on not giving up.

I think you're on to something. Guys were just flat tonight ... 2 steps slow on D ... Dayton's guards are too good for us to play like that and it showed.

Welp....humiliated at home. So much for at least playing close games. Year 3 under Hewitt drags on. And on......and on......and on. GMU basketball has been so mismanaged under the likes of TOC in recent years..... I'm reminded of the NY Mets.

I agree with Tweeder, the St. Louis game was this team's last gasp. They gave everything they had and still lost. We might not see another game within 10 the rest of the season

People were leaving the game at the 16 and 12 minute media timeouts in the 2nd half, something I don't recall ever seeing in the 15+ years I have been supporting Mason hoops.

I said earlier that this team had no energy from the opening tip and that didn't change for the most part.

The more I keep thinking about this season, this is a coaching issue, specifically with the assistants. There needs to be new blood because what they have is not working. Coach Kreider said pre-game in the gold room the team has used the word "fight" a lot. Clearly, that didn't show tonight.

Watching the post game presser, Hewitt said there wasn't much life in the offense. He doesn't think St. Louis took anything out of them.

If we play hard down the stretch, we can still win the second half. That will show all those people who say we can only win the first half.
Hm... we were one score away from solving at least one of our problems.

bottom line... everyone left their energy in Saint Louis... half court defense to full court press was a joke... the announcer said it was "easy pickins"... yikes... not what anyone wants to hear

This was incredibly disappointing coming on the heels of our performance in St. Louis.

I don't know what to say.

My only text from my douche vcu friend was, "well at least Mason didn't lose a close one tonight."

Sad and pathetic on all counts. Dayton toyed with us all night. Just for the hell of it I decided to count the number of passes for Dayton offensively. On one possession 13 passes on their part led to a wide open 3. Every player touched it at least twice. On the next possession 8 passes on their part led to an uncontested layup. Our offense consists of dribble, dribble, dribble, fail to run off the pick and roll, dribble some more and then hope that someone can go one on one to score. We are just so bad it's disheartening. I cannot take another year of Paul Hewitt.

I did the same thing. They had 13 followed by 21. Each resulted in the ball going in the basket. Lots of movement. We had 3 and 1. 2 missed floaty layup things from 5' out.

I watched part of an Iona game recently. When they scrimmage, baskets don't count unless each player makes a pass on the possession. Good coaching. Then you've got our dribble/ no pass offense. Bad coaching. Dayton made it look so easy last night. You don't see that out of Mason's offense.

So it seems like we can get somewhere by either hiring a B1G coach, or by recruiting Vince Carter's younger self.
