Last season's box score from the game in the Bronx is here (a 67-66 loss): https://gomason.com/boxscore.aspx?id=8287&path=mbball

Chartouny transferred in the off season to Marquette.

Nick Honor is averaging 15.8 PPG, Antwon Portley is averaging 11.6 PPG, and Jalen Cobb is averaging 10.6 PPG. None of these players played in last season's game (Honor and Cobb are freshman, Portley is a redshirt junior as he transferred from St. Peters). All the other players on Fordham's roster is averaging 5.8 PPG or less.

Discuss.

This is a game we should win. BUT, we are just 2 - 6 against Fordham as members of the A10. We just haven't matched up and/or played well against them. They are 29th in the NCAA allowing just 64.2 points per game. We need to start winning at home, our home record under DP is 33 - 26 (.559), which isn't exactly worthy of Hall of Fame consideration.

On paper this should be an easy win. It won't be. GMU 65 - Fordham 62. Baby steps toward dominating at home.

Agreed - this will be a defense heavy game. I am not sure the score will get that high.

Should be a great turnout for this game since we are giving away free tickets to govt employee's? Will be interesting to gather intel on this. Im sure Andy Ruge will be atop the roof profiling who is coming in.

Two from the Pikapp clan will be there plus one student sitting with his ROTC unit.

Tried to search for their boards but apparently they shut it down. After their loss to vcu things got bad on there so the admin gave up on it.

Good news is we are 4-1 and in sole possesion of 2nd place. But we have only played one team in the top 6 (Davidson) and lost.

It is crucial we get this win to prepare ourselves for a tough slate of games afterwards where 2 of the following 3 games will be on the road against top 4 teams (@Dayton and @vcu)

Twist: With the students back the players are going to have a lot of energy in the game which is going to result in a little sloppiness. I'm a little weary because we barely put away UMASS and played sloppily. I think the turnovers pile up and the boards will go crazy:

Fordham - 62
Mason - 57

I hate that I think it is possible that we will lose to FU because we are at home.
The Junkies interviewed Jonathan Allen the other day. Allen mentioned he liked playing on the road in hostile environments. He gets extra energy from the hostility of the opposing fans.

I have a feeling DP’s players have a similar thought. Most of the players where overlooked in the recruiting process. They have a chip on their shoulder and are out to prove everyone wrong. So perhaps they get a little extra energy on the road like Jonathan Allen. Maybe we should invite opposing fans to Eagle Bank, (kidding).
