Fire Dave Paulsen / Hire Tony Skinn

Nobody KNOWS what will happen, maybe not even Brad himself until he meets with Paulsen and they see if they're on the same page, mutually assess the program, goals, etc.

Anyone pretending they know anything for sure is a liar.

But, as By George says, most everyone connected seems to think he'll stay for now. That goes with everything I've pretty much heard over the past season from anyone worth talking to.

How can a university keep a basketball coach that produces nothing but mediocrity for six years, simple, keep the program free of negative issues, don't continuously ask for more program dollars, for recruiting trips, entertaining prospects, but make sure their are enough wins via scheduling lower tier programs. In other words don't rock the boat. This is why Paulson is going nowhere. He is doing what the university expects. I can remember the last TV interview with Brad Edwards. The five minute session was all about the safety of the players and how proud he was about the way the university handled it ( and rightfully so). But, not one word about the progress/regress of the basketball program. Literally nothing about the team or fans who deserve better. So for me it starts at the top. Unfortunately basketball and sports in general, from my perspective is not a priority for GMU.

It never has been. Any success nationally in basketball was a fluke of lucking into a Hall of Fame coach, and of course we had to screw that up too.

we held on to L for 14 years I think the administration deserves some credit for that although everything after he left was botched and they do deserve blame. This current situation with leadership is ironically....."show me what you got"....team chant after beating umass (I think).

Not to re-litigate that debacle for the millionth time, but the only reason we kept L for 14 years is because he wanted to stay. He was criminally underpaid for all of his accomplishments.

COVID has been the perfect dodge for Edwards and Mason not to have to deal with this. Making hard decisions is not Mason or apparently Edwards strong point.

"Oh it's to expensive with COVID affecting budgets"...well BULL F*CKINHG SH*T-- if Mason can spend the cash they have to hire all the social justice specialists to explore the University's mission and execution of being fair to minorities...that have ZIP to do with actually educating people....then they have the money to do what they want.

They are just lazy.

Please do.

Civil unrest really hamstrung that team. So much street chaos in Foggy Bottom.
Yeah, that was the one line that stood out as particularly stupid to me. The rest of it was pretty good (or at least tolerable). I do like that he took responsibility. That is more than I can say for our current guy.

He's a likeable, charismatic guy who has the ability to recruit at a high level.

I look at this as more an emergency tourniquet than anything, though, after the season they had and two starters already transferring...

I can respect that there’s at least some semblance of personal accountability going on there. After last season all we got out of Dave was “lol injuries” 5 months later.

Christian lost half his team, including 4 starters, and an assistant coach in less than a year. A social media post saying “I have to do better” is the bare minimum I’d want if I was a GW fan.

Yeah I’d imagine he’s gonna be feeling some pressure soon. He’s probably got 2 more seasons to show he can win. I thought they were on the cusp of figuring it out after they swept us last year.

At least two. Between paying lonergan and Joseph a hefty amount, they have to give Christian a few years. He’s at least recruiting well enough to hang their hats on that.

Not if his recruits all leave the next year. At least Kier, Grayer, Mar, and Boyd were here 3-4 years

Well he at least gets decent recruits to come to GW, whether they stay or not, TBD. He has that kid from O'Connell next year thats a stud, Freeman. Early returns don't look so good.

But from my understanding he has plenty of time. I have asked my GW friend about him a lot. As much as GW is private and they are supposed to have money, I don't think they will do anything with Christian for a few years.
