Are we fading away like UMass did after their Final 4?

University budget overall likely to take a big hit. State budget suffers from bad economy, drop in # of students (national survey indicates that around 16% of students are planning on NOT attending in the Fall), especially out-of state students. Fewer people in dorms and on campus, less revenue from food, etc.

Athletic depts hit with less $$ from NCAA due to no tournament, possibly no ticket buyers at games, even if they are played.

There is some priceless material on these boards for Dr. Faucci and other professional infectious disease specialists. Who else better than Mason Nation to teach others how to deal with The Virus. We know how to identify one. We just don't know how to rebuild from one.

1. Sure just give Mason 2 million so they can buy out him and his staff and bring in a better coach. Just be prepared to have complaints ready when half the team transfers and decommits and the recruiting pipelines need to be redeveloped.
2. See #1
3. Least of anyones problems. Nobody wants to root for a team that sucks or plays terrible competition half the time.
4. Sure, see #1
5. Sure, see #1. This will especially go well with the student loan crises and upcoming economic climate
6. We have a few slogans "Lets get 6'7 guys" and "Mason Basketball: Where mediocrity is tradition"

I miss your rants that you gave when you were @GMURaider
Concur, especially with points 1 and 5. There are not a lot of resources and realistic courses of action available to the school right now, and those resources and COAs are going to get tighter over the next couple of years. Buying out Paulsen would consume resources and generate a great deal of criticism from a fiscal perspective. Perhaps a better approach would be to apply the $2M buyout cost toward increasing the number of scholarships for cheerleaders, screened for attractiveness, of course. Hire Big Red to lead and showcase them at every game, and BOOM! Attendance and fan enthusiasm would increase.

Just a thought.

This is a tough one. Neil Young says it's better to burn out, than to fade away. Strike one.

Muse says I'll never let you go, if you promise not to fade away. Strike two.

Mazzy Star says "fade into you" like a hundred times. A check in our column maybe?

But then ODB says I don't got a problem with you f*ckin me, but I got a little problem with you not f*ckin me.

What's it all mean?

THAT IS WHY WE NEED A HIGH PAID LOBBYING TEAM.

WE NEED TO AGGRESSIVELY FIGHT FOR WHATEVER SCRAPS OF FUNDING ARE THERE.

WHERE IS THE AGGRESSIVE VISION? WHERE IS THE DRIVE TO WIN?

I thought the BOV already approved a student fee increase for next year?

Also, it was Angel Cabrera’s vision to not increase student fees and he’s gone.
