4 weeks from today is November 4th, and the first game is the 5th.

To all the internet fan doctors on here, how bad is a stress fracture? Sounds like it could linger on him all season like Grayer's foot injury, no?

they don't always heal properly. sometimes they end up requiring surgery.

Yes thank you I spent nine years in college at George Mason playing intramurals and dealt with all sorts of injuries and painkillers so I consider myself almost equal to a licensed physician.

I guess you not see him to at least JMU and depending on how we're doing they may hold him out longer.

WHEW!!! That's a relief.

Silly me I Googled it and found this on the Am Academy of Ortho Surgeons website and started to get concerned.

In most cases, it takes from 6 to 8 weeks for a stress fracture to heal. More serious stress fractures can take longer. Although it can be hard to be sidelined with an injury, returning to activity too soon can put you at risk for larger, harder-to-heal stress fractures and an even longer down time. Reinjury could lead to chronic problems and the stress fracture might never heal properly.

But glad to know we've a real interwebs MD expert on the case.

I've dealt with stress fractures in one of my feet. It's painful. It feels worse and worse -- then suddenly gets better. At least that's my experience.

Every stress fx is different. Definitely want to make sure he does not rush back or he will be feeling it all season long.

I blame Bryson Johnson, maybe if he'd been given the the real assistant coach title he'd be more focused on keeping this kids healthy!

Yes, but we have 3 players coming in next year is the point -- Polite, Kolek, and Henry. I mean, maybe there won't be an issue, because AJ might grad transfer out (so might Boyd, for that matter). But we might be in a situation where we have to tell one of our incoming players we don't have a scholarship for them.

Kier seemed to not have a problem in the recent photo shoot where he was smelling his fingers. I blame “Team Mom”

Barring injury, AJ is gonna start the opener at the 4. He has been absolutely killing it in practice. Looks like a completely different guy.

My predicted starting 5 (until Kier returns): Hartwell, Greene, Miller, AJ and Calixte
