Ticket had a very uncharacteristic terrible shooting night (1 for 10?!? That's a bad enough stat to make you nervous he's hurt or sick. Or knocked somebody up and distracted). Richmond was lights out from 3 and matched us on the boards. They played a good game. Our bench, while looking much improved, only scored 8..... And we won. I'll f**king take it.

We've been bitching about turnovers and missed FT. They drastically improved both of those things and won. Time to put us on the payroll.

XJ had a monster night but, if you're watching the game and not just looking at stats, the dude just isn't good late in games. I like him. Tonight he helped (a lot) more than he hurt. But he has hurt more than helped the last several. I hope this is a sign of a turnaround and not the anomaly. No one is a perfect ballplayer. If he has the obvious issues we've all seen and discuss at length, but can score and dish like he did Tonight, he's a huge plus.

So what did you guys think of English’s response to the “close games” question?

‘I can watch those games, and yeah it’s frustrating, but I chuckle because that’s not at all where this program will be…’ [not a direct quote] and then he goes on.

Great win tonight in spite of the worst officiating I have seen in decades. Mason wins despite 8 on 5.
The TV guys def found it odd that the home team barely sniffed the free line in the 1st half and much of the 2nd. Think about all of those contested Oduro layups...

No NBA player has ever reached 50 pts without attempting at least one FT, I believe we got to 72 pts only attempting 4. I'd like to know how rare this is (4 FTs for the home team in the entire game). Basically what happened in the St. Joes game too...we only attempted 4 FTs for the 1st 30 mins of that game.

Maybe this is somewhat common with teams that shoot a ton of threes?

...there, I think I answered my question. I'll see myself out.

XJ played all but 1 minute of the game. I didn’t get to watch it, but I’m going to guess that if you’re out there for 44 minutes you’re going to make at least a few mistakes.

9 assists to 2 TOs is a big turnaround from the last game ball security-wise.

The whole team cut their turnovers in half (8 tonight vs. 16 in Richmond).

Josh Oduro outplayed sixth-year senior Grant Golden tonight. He’s averaging 17.7 PPG on the season so far which begs the question, is ithere still time for me to jump on this bet?

I will bet anyone here 1000 dollars Oduro never averages 17 a game in college any year like Golden did as a sophomore.

I will also bet he never averages 13 a game at Mason for less money. I would be absolutely ecstatic if he becomes a 12/8 guy.

I know he is young but KE really needs to control his emotions on the sideline.... multiple times he ran down the bench so pissed off and reeling at the calls. Yes.... they were bad put you HAVE to have composure in games.

That one ref with the black hair was straight awful. Fans in my section let him hear it when he came off the court... it was glorious.

I really haven’t seen a ton of anger from KE minus the last few games which was directed at the refs which some would argue they deserved. A couple times he ran down the sideline toward the baseline screaming to himself, this is a nothingburger.

Our last coach would kick the scorers table and belittle his own guys on the court. We’ll be ok, KE will be ok.

Great question by the reporter btw ;)

Josh Oduro tonight outplayed sixth-year senior Grant Golden tonight. Which seems like the perfect time to bring back this golden oldie.

Josh currently averaging 17.7 PPG.

Oh great so I didnt bet Jim, I bet everyone.

Seriously, I liked him coming out of HS but I had him as a defensive/rebounding guy. Turns out the opposite.

IDK if scoring 22 but letting Golden get 23 is outplaying him, though. On Monday Golden had 11 sans Josh.

All-American
22 points, 14 boards, 2 blocks, and 5 assists
Vs
23 points, 8 boards, 0 blocks, and 1 assist

I’ll take the former.

I also didn’t notice Golden getting doubled often. At some points, Josh was tripled.
Meh. Throw in 4 JO turnovers vs 2 for GG. Acknowledge the fact that about 6 of those JO rebounds came on 2 possessions of his own misses, and I'd say it was pretty much a wash.

I think Josh is a better player overall, but that matchup with Golden seems to always give him trouble.

Gotta love how this team hit their free throws down the stretch. That was a big difference maker. They once again leave it all out there. It would have been very easy to fold at any point.

XJ had a good game last night. He has no help and he’s going to be choppy game to game and moment to Moment as coach mentioned. I’ll have to look at his stats but I think it was 9 assists 2 turnovers if I remember correctly.

I once again do not have to question talent or coaching like I have in years past. Mason doesn’t quite have the depth as we all know. What we do have is tough to beat and very competitive. I’ll gladly take it for year 1.

Onto vcu.

Meh, maybe so, but that doesn’t support my argument so I left it out. Because the only thing more fun than angry Jollay is drunk angry Jollay, but we need another 4 hours for that to happen.

Nah, but seriously, I thought Richmond doubled Josh a heck of a lot more than we did Golden, who picked up a few of those baskets against Jones too. Each had great games, but I thought Josh did outplay him.
