GIVING DAY 2023
Im just happy we filled out the roster. I really didn’t think we were going to this year. This is the year of no excuses, so if this is Dave’s best option with that last scholly let’s see what happens.

I’m happy to have a little more depth at that position and if Daddy is a bust then it’ll be good to have another body with 5 fouls.
Oh man you are underselling Dady, I'd be stunned if he's a bust.

Nobody is more plugged into DMV hoops than Marcus Helton.....not even sleeperpick.

I know nothing about the wide majority of DMV hoops outside of PVI and the top 20 players each year... definitely don't claim to either... thus why I have and continue to have no clue who this kid is. Hope it works out great. I love athletic kids and you can generally never get enough of him. Maybe he can grow 3 inches and 70 lbs and become our starting center

GIVING DAY 2023
4 true frosh
1 redshirt frosh
2 Sophs
2 juniors
2 seniors
2 redshirt seniors

6 guys above sophomore status
7 guys below sophomore status

a deep team for once. And going forward each year there should be at least 1 senior.

First of all, welcome Otis! Seems like a great pickup in the spring. His signing reminds me of when we signed Gabe Norwood years ago. Just a real good late spring recruiting cycle pickup. Nice to hear we beat out the list of schools we went up against.

Second of all, love the fact he played with Compton Magic AAU. Perhaps he played with Hartwell or Paulsen building a west coast pipeline?

Third of all, I think we must've forced Kier's hand to see this kid commit the next day after Kier left.

Lastly, who died and made slapstick the king of GMU recruiting? Dr. Gunnie is still the king, last time I checked.

I think it’s the other way around, I think that Kier leaving was the impetus that actually opened up the scholarship and allowed Otis to commit.

What I see

Range- he took some threes (deep ones), and made them. Seems like he has a nice shot, good mechanics. Definitely can be used. Him and Kolek definitely will be nice shooting competition for each other.
Athleticism- at 6’6 he has a make of a guard, the height of a forward. I can see him playing the 2 or the three, or even the 4 if needed. Put him with Jordan miller and Malik Henry and you have some real good athleticism with some good size. He definitely fits in with the profile Dave has gone after the last few years.
Motor- if I’m not mistaken he had a block on a fastbreak, anyone who’s 6’6 and can run the floor definitely can be a horse.

the year of prep school should really help him adjust. I expect him to be ready for d1 when he plays.

not sure if they promised/expect him to play right away or if he’s going to be a redshirt candidate. Either way he should be a good one.

With the new rules coming I expect the redshirt to be a thing of the past except in the case of injury. No sense for coaches to do it anymore when players can leave whenever they want .... get what you can while you have them.

Doubt it. Why would Otis sign with Mason knowing that he was the 2nd choice.

Ok I’ll bite. Huh?

How so? I like the kid henry, I think hes a solid option to replace AJ moving forward. After calixte (who I'm not that high on) leaves and oduro takes the spot at the five, is that something you are comfortable with? Because personally some of the centers in the a10 are large and mason is lacking a big body over 6.10 imo
