I don't think he's coming back this season. Why come back for 10 games at the most that's assuming winning A10 and going dancing. Could be as little as 4/5. I don't think it's happening. He'll just come back next year ready to go.
He is doing 5 on 5 drills with the team. He is now considered day to day by Skinn. He said the above publicly to UR announcers. They mentioned it on the air. They said this with Brayden on the bench enthusiastic with a timeout...no boot. Moving really well....he is coming back

Skin was very heisted to answer question a couple weeks ago likely due to they don't know what he's going to do. I wouldn’t rely on the Richmond broadcast, they were speculating quite a bit. Just because he’s practicing and doing 5-on-5 doesn’t mean he’s returning this season. Players can practice and still redshirt. Nothing from Skinn, the school or Brayden that he is going to come back or redshirt. So I would say until then we don't know. He himself honestly might not have even decided yet. He could come back but again. Why? I think if they were in first place and looking at a bid sure. He has lost all 3 years in conference final. He wants to play in the NCAA Tournament. At this point next year may give him a better chance.

Cant he play in a limited number of games?
In NCAA Division I men’s basketball, a player can appear in up to 4 games in a season and still take a redshirt year.

Key Points:

  • ✅ You can play in 4 or fewer games and still qualify for a redshirt.
  • ❌ If you play in 5 or more games, you lose the redshirt for that season.
  • This rule has been in effect since the 2018–19 season.
  • It applies to regular season and postseason games.

There is also a medical redshirt (hardship waiver) option if a player suffers a season-ending injury, but that has separate criteria.

Why waste a year of eligibility for 7 games on a team that’s only dancing if we win the tourney? This would not be a smart move on our part or his part.

None of this makes sense... ask BOC or Coach Skinn at Monday's Coach's Show or wait to see how it all plays out. Speculation is useless.

Nonetheless, BOC is WAYYYYY behind the curve when it comes to being in game shape. There's no practice that substitutes for in-game performance. Playing BOC now may be a liability to the team. I'm really not sure how effective he would be if he did play three+ games. I'll let BOC and the professional coaches figure it all out.

Because coaches don’t care about eligibility anymore. These are essentially professional athletes receiving guaranteed NIL payments. At the very least, BOC will be a free agent next year, so play him if you think he can help you this season.

"In very general terms, to qualify for a Medical Hardship Waiver, an athlete can’t participate in more than 30% of the number of games or 'dates of competition' in their regular season and must have medical documentation of a 'season-ending' injury or illness that’s dated prior to the midpoint of the season."

Inasmuch as it's past the midpoint of the regular season, Brayden will be disqualified for a medical hardship waiver if he plays in any remaining games this season.

TS mentioned in a post game that BOC wants to play with team 60 but it's so late in the season now so Tony has to make some decisions.

BOC, the AD and TS had an entire season to assess his eligibility situation, thoroughly explore all the options and establish a plan based on BOC's preferences.

Reminder: BOC is a professional athlete on a 1 year contract with the school. He is driving this situation

He is married. It's possible that he doesn't want to play an extra year of college and wants to move on with his life.

In that lens, finishing with team 60 makes sense.

Team 60 definitely needs him now. If Brayden is cleared by the doctors and isn’t planning to be in college next year regardless, it’s an absolute no-brainer to bring him back whether it’s for seven games or the season ends up going on longer.

I love the kid and his loyalty but he's a pre-season 1st team all conference player who can earn another year of eligibility. That probably gets him $400k or more next year. He's not giving that up to play a handful of games down the stretch.

How do you knows that he is making 400k this year?
Mason hasnt published any breakdown.by player.
Mason approximate estimated roster is about 2 million; I don't think his salary is 20% of the payroll.

I think you’d be surprised, payments to players are not spread evenly whatsoever. 90% of your budget is probably going to 10-20% of your roster at our level. I’m not positive about Masons situation specifically but I’ve heard enough similar stories across schools that are similar in conference and rumored budgets that I’d guess we are in the same boat.
