I fully admit to liking the hire, because he was a big name with a good recruiting history and I thought (read: hoped) he would learn from the mistakes he made at Tech. I know some people here wanted a hot-shot assistant, but the last time we went that route we ended up with Ernie Nestor (who was actually considered a very good hire at the time).

While most of us were supportive of hiring Hewitt, it's interesting that many of his most vocal supporters at the time are now his biggest critics. Looking back, I really appreciate the comments of the GT fan who pointed out the importance of Hewitt having an assistant (like his former assistant Dean Keener) who's a good X's & O's guy.

Not too hard to tell who he is. He's the only person who uses the term "Paul Ball" in reference to our new coach.
