OT - FBI Uncovers Massive College Entrance Cheating Scheme

A large-scale scheme to cheat on college entrance exams has been busted by the FBI and federal prosecutors in Boston, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday.

The alleged scheme focused on getting students admitted to elite universities as recruited athletes, regardless of their athletic abilities, and helping potential students cheat on their college exams, according to the indictment.


The plot involved students who attended or were seeking to attend Georgetown University, Stanford University, UCLA, the University of San Diego, USC, University of Texas, Wake Forest, and Yale, according to federal prosecutors.

Lori Loughlin and her husband paid more than $500000 in bribes and illegal donations to have their daughters designated part of the USC Crew team. Huffman paid 15k to a professional test taker so that her daughter could pass the entrance exams.

Also included in the indictment are a wealthy investment banker and the owner of several high priced boutiques. Much of the money was funneled through a single shell foundation that moved money to pay off athletic directors and coaches, pay smarter people to take exams and other methods to get their kids into elite schools

There is at least one. Mark Riddell, the director of college entrance exam prep at IMG Academy, was among those arrested. And if he was doing it for rich kids, why not for actual athletes too?
