But what percentage of our budget would you attribute to essentially our G League team? OR would you try to pull it off for free?
Didn’t even think of the G League comparison, but that’s exactly what I envision—a close, trusted pipeline. NBA teams invest just 1–3% of their budget in G League affiliates, and the return is clear. Look at Austin Reaves—developed with South Bay, now a key piece for the Lakers. Mason could see similar value from a smart JUCO pipeline.

What percentage of the direct pay to athletes do you think we’ll do? 80% to MBB 15 to WBB. 4% to Men’s soccer and 1% to other teams?
Give each sport exactly what it brings in. Sport A pulls in 100% of the revenue? Then guess what… they get 100% of the funding. Cough cough, basketball.

I would think baseballl would be ahead of men’s soccer

GMU Logo Guy, I’d take a look at men’s wrestling. I’m pretty sure they sell more season tickets than men’s basketball does and their alumni give at much much higher rates than men’s basketball alumni do.

Admission is free for GMU wrestling.

some function of
1) revenues, profits, ticket sales, total attendance, student attendance, non-comped attendance
1a) can add in factors driven by graduation rates and academic performances

2) expect a Title IX suit to be filed at 8 am, Monday morning with some advocating a 50/50 spit between Men and Women's Programs

3) Coaches will need to develop a defensible method for sharing their NIL amount among the players
3a) i could see players with outside NIL money getting less University payment money than others - even though they are the likely stars of the team
3b) something like minimal performance, superior performance, and/or a WAR metric across all sports

Interesting. I didn’t even know they sold season tickets.

who wrote and who signed such a poorly worded contract?
why would anyone give money to such an organization?

standard clauses?
contract ends if/when you enter the transfer portal.
contract ends if/when you refuse to play in any post season game.
Must repay funds if you transfer before the season starts.

Or why the contract extended past the end of the season (he transferred in April, contract should run from August to March.

No way. That means a player can collect through March and then transfer in April?

Incentivize a player to stay by allowing a player to be eligible to collect a chunk of cash only AFTER the transfer portal closes.

Two events can occur: 1.) The player is incentivized to remain on the team to collect guaranteed dollars in the off-season; or 2.) The player transfers and vacates claim to dollars paid in the off-season (creating a large savings to the athletic program).

Such a contractual arrangement may discourage a player from attempting to pull an "Okojie Maneuver".
