$5M for one player and he wants to leave for $6M

Demond Williams Jr. signed a near-$5 million NIL deal with Washington on Friday. By Tuesday night, he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.
Now the Huskies are preparing legal action.
Sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel that Washington will pursue all avenues to enforce Williams' contract. The agreement, built on a Big Ten template, states the school isn't obligated to enter him into the portal or assist his transfer in any way.
The implications are massive. One prominent NIL attorney told OutKick the quiet part out loud: programs now have legitimate contracts and legitimate attorneys from major universities. The stakes are larger, which means the liability is greater.
Williams' production justifies the chaos. He threw for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns as a sophomore while adding 611 rushing yards and six scores. LSU is reportedly willing to offer $6 million — more than a dozen NFL starters made this past season.
Williams originally committed to Ole Miss in 2022 when Lane Kiffin was coaching the Rebels. That relationship never faded.
Washington is also investigating potential tampering by other schools. We've seen this playbook before — Wisconsin sued Miami last June under similar circumstances. That case is still ongoing.
What happens next could set the precedent for every NIL dispute that follows.
