If Brad hasnt gone to practices to see the real problem up close, then we have major major major problems. Gameday isnt the only stage to see how incompetent our pathetic coach is. If Brad is getting pissed at games then he is either out of touch, or The Virus practices one way and plays the game another.

Player regression is not new. Jenkins should be doing better, but honestly he hasnt improved despite what The Virus said. Allen and Wright regressed too. The Virus got rid of other kids. Thankfully they were spared further morbidity. Paris, JA, Whack, Hancock, Vaughns, even Okajoke left for a reason and now we see why.

F — Paul Hewitt, George Mason

Rather than dissect everything that went wrong for George Mason during a lost weekend in Puerto Rico, why not just merely address the Patriots' final play in Sunday night's 61-60 loss to College of Charleston? Facing a one-point deficit with 5.9 seconds remaining, George Mason inbounded the ball too deep into the backcourt to have time to get a good look. Then Shevon Thompson set a sloppy screen for guard Marquise Moore, who panicked and passed to senior role player Vaughn Gray for a contested 3-pointer that not surprisingly did not go in.

He deserves an F and boot in his a** !!!

Great progress was made as our team experienced much culturally during this trip. I am glad they have been able to learn much culturally in Spain, Puerto Rico and elsewhere during Hewitt's run.

It's a good point - who do we have when you need a basket and there's just a couple seconds left on the clock?

In the past we've had Sherrod Wright, Bryon Allen, Cam Long, Luke Hancock, Dre Smith, John Vaughn, Folarin Campbell, Tony Skinn, Mark Davis, etc. - even Westhead had Nate Langley. Holloway is the closest we have not, but not really a dribble, create and clutch type player.

Coming into this season, I would have said Jalen Jenkins would have been one of our go-to options when we needed a basket, because you could get him the ball near the FT line and let him create his own shlot like Ryan used to do. Unfortunately, Jalen has been off to a slow start in the new offense and doesn't appear too comfortable out there.

Jalen fouled out, so he wasn't an option for the final shot. To me, the question is whether Marquise was the right guy to run the final play?

I'm glad Paul Hewitt was listed before George Mason in receiving his F. Hope this has been forwarded to Brad Edwards. $700,000 a year and a CYO coach could've designed a better play.

Just some observations after what I saw this weekend.

Jalen Jenkins - the kid is totally lost, you can see it in his eyes. He gets the ball in the low post and panic sets in. what to do with it, he then forces a play, typically bullying his way down the lane. He showed so much promise last year. Why in the world has he regressed. Hewitt, only answer I can see. He should be a 12-14 point per game contributor with 10 rebounds every game.

Marquis Moore - looks like he has lost a step (maybe the surgery) but with a few exceptions he cant get down the lane. His shot is still very poor. I guess its a real problem, Moore or Edwards. Sorry but these guys are not A-10 caliber guards. this is a big issue with Mason, no floor leaders who can set the tempo.

Julian Royal - Well, so much for he is an offensive machine. What? Lets hope the light goes on, but man he could be another Okalojie.

Marco - Just has limited talent, a Hewitt recruit. He looks lost also.

Thompson - pleasant surprise, pretty mobile for a big guy, I see him
getting better and better .

Trey Porter - Lets keep giving him the minutes, good promise, nice touch and wow, someone who can shoot free throws!

Oh well, it really hurts to see our team going down the drain, but hey there is only one place to go and that's up. Unfortunately it will take some new players, new coach/system and a commitment from the university. Until this happens I will lower my expectations.

Isaiah Jackson is getting a lot of under the radar minutes. He looks very good at times. Trey Porter looks great but has to avoid getting over excited. Occasionally he will go on a barnstorming drive to the basket and wind up flailing all over. He needs to limit that.

Thanks for pointing this out, Rock. While our coach and team laid a collective egg in San Juan, it should be noted that Thompson was named to the all-tournament team. I have no way of verifying this, but I imagine not too many players from the 8th-place team have accomplished this feat before.

I agree with what you're saying, but in a situation where you've 3 seconds on the clock and need a basket there's not time to get it down the court and pass into the low post.

I'm thinking of a player like Cam Long who could take it coast to coast and either drive & dunk or pull up for the jumper when the game was on the line, or just when the team wasn't playing well and he's say F it, I'm putting the game on my back. Jenkins is more of a Ryan Pearson style player, not someone you give the ball to on your side of the court.

I'm starting to think Marquise Moore just doesn't know the proper mechanics of shooting. In other words the guy doesn't know how to shoot a basketball properly and someone on Hewitt's staff need to reteach him. He still leans and jerks forward his entire body when he shoots.

That lean forward movement is something only two types of people will make when shooting a basketball. 1st type are people who just don't know how to shoot. 2nd type are people who are overweight and have a beer keg belly and aren't able to jump straight up because of thier weight. Moore needs to be taught how to shoot properly. With Hewitt and his staff its probably not going to happen.

Starting to think? But if Moore knew how to shoot, he probably wouldn't be at Mason in the first place.

Or if Mo Cassara hadn't been fired at Hofstra.

If he knew how to shoot, he wouldn't have landed at Hofstra in the first place. But, yes, that too.

I would be surprised if Moore's jumper ever became picture perfect by the time he leaves here. Minor adjustments sure, a full on overhaul is doubtful.

It reminds me a little bit of Ivan Chappell from vcu a decade or so ago. Hideous jumper, and from what I remember was also was due to injury, and the coaching staff worked hard to get him back to normal. To no avail.
