Normally I'd put this on Mincy's thread, but in reading the article I noticed that TWO Liberty players are on the 2 teams (20 players total)

First team-Zach Cleveland #25
Second team-Brett Decker #4---4th nationally in 3 pt% at 47%.

This has the marking of a player going off for a career high against us...yet again.

Hopefully not Decker....just 3 games ago in a home loss, he was 8-13 from 3, scoring 30 for the game and a season-high. Although La Tech still managed to win the game by 5.

Game will 100% be about 3 pt defense, and crashing the glass when they miss.

If we hold them to a decent 3 pt percentage, we will crush them in rebounding.

Slow, possession game is our best bet.

NIT FIRST ROUND

  • "George Mason has certainly seen a hub and spoke style offense in A10 play against St. Louis, who they limited to .90 PPP just a week and a half ago, the Billikens' second least efficient offensive game of the year. The problem is that Robbie Avila, the hub in the Schertz system, was limited to 12 minutes with a plantar fasciitis flare up. Liberty plays a very similar but dramatically slower system, with spacing and movement around Zach Cleveland at the hub, but Cleveland will actually beat you more out of the ball screen mismatch whereas Avila is handoff hub. Liberty doesn't deal well with physicality and athleticism, and I'm sure Mason will be pounding Riley Allenspach post ups after Missouri State just bounced Liberty from the CUSA tournament with 27 post points, all from Human Bowling Ball Michael Osei-Bonsu, who is shaped like a Dick Tracy villain and went 14-16 from the field. Liberty typically defends the post with 6'5 JJ Harper, which is a severe mismatch."

By the sounds of everyone on here it seems we are playing a team who’s players all chose Liberty instead of Duke tonight and have zero chance at beating the juggernaut that is Liberty university. I will tell my grandchildren one day that I witnessed such basketball perfection tonight.

To avoid embarrassment, we should just fake a limp or say we’re on the rag and can’t play.

They didn't???
Honestly, I think a lot of this is just not wanting to be too disappointed based on our last outing.

However, Coach Richie is top notch.
