On another note, in what promises to be a game worth watching, Davidson plays vcu tonight on TV (MASN, I think) at 7. Vegasinsider has Davidson a 9.5 pt underdog (despite the fact that Davidson has beaten the spread in their last 8 games and rpiforecast has vcu favored only by 5.2.).

Guys, there is no way Davidson beats vcu tonight. They recruited players for the SoCon, not the A10. You can't win the first year in this conference. You think vcu and Butler just came in and won more than 4 games? That just doesn't happen. UNLESS you have a good coach.

Davidson held thier own against vcu. Davidson has players recruited for SoCon and most were given a NR as in Not Rated in thier scout grade. They have a good coach though. .............interesting

vcu wins by 6 so the rpiforecast comes closer than vegasinsider (which btw moved to a 10.5 spread). vcu wore them down in the second half; Ally Cox was a force underneath. Actually while Davidson hung in there, vcu had an 12 pt lead with 2:07 left.

Davidson is better than most people thought this year..... they can, and will be, a very dangerous team, especially to us since we have zero perimeter defense. They LIVE and DIE by the 3 ball. They shoot close to 25 3-pointers a game. They have many pure shooters on their team who can drain 3's all day. They have pretty much 3 Lamar Butler's who love shooting the 3 ball..... and MAKING them. On at least 40 attempts from 3.... Davidson has 3 guys who shoot over 45% and 1 guy who shoots 40% from 3-point range. Let that sink in a bit. That's pretty amazing. I don't even think we have 1 guy who has smelt 35% all year from 3 point range. Jackson is 9-20 from 3 but he is not consistent enough to be a spot up 3 point shooter like a lot of these Davidson guys.

They play sound ball all around and play defense and they are WELL Coached! This team is going to be dangerous in the A-10 for a few years with these shooters.... and they are young! They only have 2 seniors on their team. I can see Davidson placing 3-4th this year in conference and making it to the NCAA Tourney. Don't sleep on this team.

If we can beat Davidson once this year I will be impressed.

Back to Richmond..... hopefully Jenkins will be aggressive and pound the ball inside on these guys.... we can eat them up inside with our bigs and we will need to score a lot in the paint to beat these guys. Thompson and Jenkins need to play lights out!

I really want to go to the game at UR -- it's literally a 20-minute drive from my house -- but I think I still have PTSD from some of our hideous losses at the Robins Center when I was in school.

Their old red sweater-vest fans used to be SO annoying when Richmond was good under Dick Tarrant in the late 80s/early 90s.

We never got a call, and no matter how well we played, I'm pretty sure we never won down there.

Hopefully the passage of time and the Robins Center renovation got rid of our bad juju there. A 2-0 start in A-10 play with a home game against UMass upcoming would be pretty damn tasty.

I'm just not seeing it.

I try to separate the two even though it's darn near impossible. I root for the players and team to win, and I thank the basketball Gods that I'm not in Edwards' shoes of having to make decision if we do keep winning.
