Pablo
Hall of Famer
Remember Dave even saying early on that he wouldn't have accepted the job in the first place if he had known the abysmal shape of the program beforehand.

I believe there is a Jollay sighting in the first video.

The big question is: was Pablo there? There were multiple posters at Paulsen's introductory press conference.
I dont know why, but Brad rubs me the wrong way.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...le-of-search-firms-in-college-coaching-hires/:
"When Edwards returned to Washington, he knew Bucknell Coach Dave Paulsen was his man, most of the broad strokes – expectations, requests, terms of a five-year contract – already agreed to in Atlanta. Confidence, though, costs money: in this case $50,000 paid to Parker Executive Search, one of the most influential players in the high-stakes and mysterious world of coaching search firms."
Thanks Pablo. What a racket. Should just pay the staff at giantkiller the small fee of $2006 and have them conduct the next search.
I agree, and that’s why Edwards rubs me the wrong way. He doesn’t seem to care about the results. He just wants a clean program.I watched that whole second video Pablo posted above since the boards are pretty boring this morning to get my entertainment (these boards are pretty boring right now). I don't know that this has any bearing since you can't take that interview in a vacuum, so this is just a hypothetical for the fun of it.
If Brad sticks by his words in that interview, I don't see how he could justify getting rid of Paulsen. To paraphrase, he makes a statement that as long as Paulsen sticks to the plan that Brad will have Paulsen's back. He even references building via the draft (4 year recruits) versus free agency (transfers). It seems to me that Paulsen has stuck to the plan. He has stuck to recruiting freshman, has run a clean program with no short cuts, so that would seem to mean Paulsen has a very long leash regarding the on court performance.
It’s not just his Mason connection though. It’s the relationships in the DC area, and now in the NY/NJ area. He’s relevant in several ways.I (previously one of Paulsen's biggest defenders, maybe second to only Jim) have been on the Fire Paulsen train for a while now. However, I did not understand the call to hire Skinn. After recent events, I think I get it. Seems like the last hope to capitalize on 2006. The risk of a young, first time head coach is worth a chance at reconnecting the program to its former success. Count me in.
*Signs Tony Skinn*
brings the best of both worlds. The 2006 fans that left after the L and have stayed gone thru the Hewitt and Paulsen years might come back with a familiar face most adore. And the folks that could give 2 shits about 2006 (me) get a nice up and coming coach that can actually recruit like I have asked for since after Coach L. win-win to meIt’s not just his Mason connection though. Right there with you. I didn’t see it at first, but I’m coming around to it!I (previously one of Paulsen's biggest defenders, maybe second to only Jim) have been on the Fire Paulsen train for a while now.
