"According to multiple reports, including one from Jon Rothstein, Billy Gillispie will not return as the head basketball coach at Tarleton State. Gillispie has not been coaching the team since early February, when Glynn Cyprien was named as the acting head coach. He was also suspended briefly in October following an investigation after an anonymous conduct complaint.

Gillispie, the former head coach at Kentucky, Texas A&M, UTEP and Texas Tech (217-187 – .537) – he also spent five seasons as the head coach at NJCAA D1 Ranger College before taking over at TSU.

Tarleton is currently 14-13 (5-9 WAC) and riding a two-game win streak. They currently have four regular season games remaining."

I wouldn’t consider Groce a riser given his 5 years as HC at Illinois. He would be more of a retread.

Played golf with a Dayton alum today…seems they like him.
He’s a great ambassador of the program. He’s an alumni. I feel like Grant will have to step down on his own accord before they move on, but with the resources of Dayton, they should be having more success.

Dayton looks like the team to beat right now. Injuries have killed them, same with GW and Mason. Loyola there's no excuses. Tbd who's healthy in march..... I thought he had checked out but maybe they are back in it......

"CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced today that the university is parting ways with Head Men's Basketball Coach Wayne Tinkle."

"During Tinkle's tenure at Oregon State, the program earned two NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by its 2021 Pac-12 Tournament championship and a run to the Elite Eight—the second such appearance in school history. His teams recorded six winning seasons during his time leading the program.

A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.

DHR Global will assist Oregon State in the search process."

My sources tell me Tinkle pissed off a lot of people with how he managed the flow of the game on the court and the leaks coming from his staff off the court. The final nail in the coffin was a social media campaign he started to save his job: "Urine Good Hands With Tinkle!"

I needed a good laugh from these boards...Tom comes through again!

Not being all that informed on Oregon State basketball, I wouldn't have put it past him to have completely made up the coach's name and put Pablo up to sending out a "April Fool's"-like post!

Zero sum game. Pay the head coach less so you can pay players more.
I thought that Woj's job was to raise more money?

Interesting that Curran isn't on the short list. Too expensive?

Under the current system of being in the wild wild west, the coach sort of falls into the same category as facilities, not as important. However, if they pass antitrust exemption with score act, things change. By change, meaning back how it used to be with upgrades. No more collectives, but real NIL. No portal, but reasonable transfers. Rev share which is already approved. This gives coaches the ability to do what they really want to do.And that is coach and develop players.

This seems like a going to backfire move.

And it just may be a situation where schools like Bonaventure, La Salle, And Fordham just can’t compete at a high level anymore because of all this money swirling around.
