Wow. Big decision by the AD on who replaces him to try to keep that program going.
Talk on X for a while now by Duquesne fans is that this was imminent and they have been saying that Associate Head Coach Dru Joyce is the heir apparent.

"Worst kept secret in college basketball seems like a done deal. Everyone has been talking about Indiana State’s Josh Schertz to St. Louis for weeks now – sounds like St. Louis is just waiting for the Sycamores to get bounced from the NIT (or win the NIT) to make an official announcement. Stay tuned…"

My guess is either Lanier broke some rules or a big donor demanded a change and they have a new coach in the waiting.

Kim to Kentucky!

Jon Rothstein
@JonRothstein

REMINDER: John Calipari's current buyout at Kentucky is $33,375,000. He's going to be Kentucky's head coach unless someone paid him just south of $34 MILLION DOLLARS.

Five years ago, Jack Gohlke was a redshirt freshman at Hillsdale College (Division II).

Tonight, he made 10 three-point shots and scored 32 points as Oakland upset Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament.

Anarchy?

Nope. Just College Basketball.

"William & Mary Athletics Director Brian D. Mann announced today that Cornell University head coach Brian Earl will take the reins of men’s basketball at W&M. Earl becomes the 32nd head coach in the Tribe’s 119-year history. He will be formally introduced to the Tribe community at a date to be determined.

The 1999 Ivy League Player of the Year at Princeton, Earl joins W&M after spending the last seven seasons as the head coach at Cornell, where he led the Big Red to numerous offensive milestones and its first-ever NIT bid this year."

"Several high-major programs -- including Louisville of the ACC and Vanderbilt of the SEC -- pursued May as a coaching candidate. May ultimately became swept away with Michigan's alumni network and its fierce loyalty to the university and athletics, sources said, and he believes that will help transcend some of the inherently transactional nature of the modern NIL/transfer portal era in recruiting and player retention."
