While basketball is the focus for most members on these boards, track and field has historically been GMU's most consistently successful sport.

"WASHINGTON – 33 student athletes representing nine Atlantic 10 universities qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field First Round.

George Mason and vcu paced the conference with seven qualifying student-athletes each, while Rhode Island sent four student-athletes to regionals. La Salle racked up four qualifiers and Loyola Chicago tallied three selections. Duquesne, George Washington, and Saint Louis each qualified two student-athletes, as Davidson, Dayton and Richmond rounded out the list with one student-athlete each.

Alex DeRoussel, Davian Burke, Kellen La Roche, and Walter Bannerman will represent the George Mason’s men’s team at the NCAA East Regional, while Ella Semple, Abigail Weening, and Kennedy Drish earned spots for the women’s team. Bannerman and Drish will compete in the men’s and women’s pole vault events, respectively, as La Roche and Weening compete in their respective high jump events. Burke is slated for the 110-meter hurdles, DeRoussel for the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Semple for the 5,000 meters."
