Fair- but if you look at Rutgers main sports (Football and Basketball), they have been very competitive in basketball especially the last 7-8 years including making the NCAAs. Football not so much.

Pikiell is a magician because that was probably the worst job in D1 when he took over on the BCS level.

I feel like Rutgers and Mason are very similar. Big state schools in a metropolitan area. Lackluster fan bases. Both schools should be better at athletics but their administrations made some bad choices

I was one that did not think we'd go to Wake as the #64 seed, but our RPI is the worst of all the teams in it:

Still, I thought Tulane being 19-40 should've been the #64 seed even if their RPI was better than ours. But unlike hoops, in every other sport the NCAA tries to keep teams close to home which is why Tulane is the 4 seed at LSU and we are the 4 seed at Wake. Though, its a lot tougher to beat LSU at LSU than Wake at Wake.......

Has Mason baseball ever been in the NCAA tourney? I know I can look this up but been drinking wine with the wife and a bit fried -- and lazy

if wiki is to be believed. A staggering 1-14 in their appearances.

From Bill Brown's bio:

"Brown has led Mason to the NCAA Tournament in 1985, 1988, 1992, 1993, 2004, 2009 and 2014."

I don't know about '85 and '88, but I don't think we won more than one game total in all the other NCAA regionals.
