To piggyback off the A-10 Conference Rank Thread.... Here's a question for everyone. Now seeing what we have done and the lack of success in the A-10 conference the past couple years and this year.... as a fan are you happy to be a part of the A-10 or do you wish we would have stayed in the CAA conference?

Hypothetical scenario.....If George Mason stayed in the CAA, do you think we could of made a NCAA tournament?

Reminder that these are hypothetical questions.

If we were still in the CAA and Hewitt was still our coach, would we have made an NCAA tournament by now?

BWWWAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAA!!!!!

That's some funny sh!t there. Seriously.

In 2013 we were very close to going to a NCAA tourney with Hewitt. We choked and blew a 20 point lead to NE in the semi's to lose by 2. Then NE lost to JMU in the finals, who we owned during the regular season. If things turned out just a little better...Hewitt would of taken us to the dance.

The second they announced a Virus was taking over for OCM, I knew we were doomed. I dont care if going to the Patriot or MeAC was an option as long as it meant The Virus was gone.

In 2013, we had a team mostly full of L'a players ... and the f*cking dumba$$ Virus still couldn't hold a 20-point lead.

Fools gold, in other words.

I don't care if we lose every game for the next 2 seasons, we're still better off without that slack-a** thief as our "coach."

Im happy to be in the A10. While we may be out matched on Basketball at the moment i think it has been good for the university and the program overall. Our day will come in the A10 and Mason Basketball will be relevant again. Someday.

Anyone have the feeling this team is capable of making a run in the A10 tourney? They will come in with nothing to lose and if our 3pt shooting happens to be on...

Not saying they will, but I could see it as a possibility and something to root for - finish the season strong with a couple upset wins and get some confidence going into next year. Did not have this feeling last two years... (and obviously there are still a lot of games left to play - maybe Im just still riding the good feelings from the moral victory against GW)

If I were a fellow A-10 coach, I wouldn't want to draw us in the tourney

Anything is possible, though if it's the first time our freshman are playing in an arena that big, I'm not sure our shooting will be lights out.

If we qualify, this is a year I wouldn't be opposed to playing in the CBI/CIT tournaments. As much experience as we can get for these kids the better.

This team is more capable of making a run than the past two seasons simply because these players won't throw in the towel psychologically -- they are still working their asses off to get better and it's obvious that they care deeply about winning.

You didn't need to be Dr. Phil to look at the body language of our last two teams and see that by the end of the season, they were sick of Hewitt and ready to be done ASAP. We lost to awful Fordham teams both times and showed very little fight in doing so -- even when we had seniors in our starting backcourt and they should've been desperate to extend their college careers.

If Grayer gets white-hot like he was in Charleston, and Shevon is 100 percent healthy, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we win two games in Broolyn. Anything more than that would be a miracle.

There are many variables. If we are not A10 does Otis, Grayer, or Abram come here? Does Paulsen? Patriot League to the CAA would be a step up, but a small step. Would Hewitt still be the coach? Doubtful, but if not Paulsen who would we get?

Nevermind all the financial implications.

All of the what if is moot. We are where we are and I, for one, am happy to be in the A-10. Paulsen will get it together over the next few years and this team should sniff .500 in the 17-18 season. Until then I will enjoy watching the games with little expectation of a win, but look for solid improvement from week to week.
