$20M is a big gift. I’d love to be able to drop that kind of cash on Mason but barring a big lottery score, that ain’t happening.

"Last week, billionaire Philanthropist, James Maguire sent a letter to the Presidents of St. Joseph’s University and the University of Pennsylvania in which he, in effect, told them to “get down or lay down” with his desire to suppress peaceful non-violent protest by the Penn Men’s basketball team."

Maybe Mr. Squirrel confused St. Joes for La Salle? I could see those conversations being had over at La Salle.
I'm referencing SJU. The "higher-ups" I'm told are some of the trustees who have questioned whether funding D1 athletics is consistent with their mission, but of course there are dozens of trustees so a few malcontents are not going to count for much, in the scheme of things.

I was not aware of the $55 million fundraising campaign so thanks for that, Pablo. If alumni like Maquire and Hagan are willing to bankroll the program then it's not going anywhere. I do find it odd that with backers like Maquire, that they decided to hire Lange @500K, instead of paying for a better coach. They were paying Martelli around $1.5M before he was escorted out the door, if memory serves.

to me it seems like the competition level has risen throughout most of the league

Yes and no: a lot of talent is leaving too. But what We can say is the coaching at programs like UMass and URI got big upgrades, so the competitiveness of those two squads is going to increase significantly.
URI, UMASS, vcu, Duquesne and having Loyola in the league are massive upgrades. Saint Joes, Mason, Dayton and Saint Louis upgraded as well

Richmond, Bona and Davidson seem to have declined talent wise. Lasalle is going to suck

League should be much better next year with some really good teams : Saint Louis and Dayton and hopefully us.

An NCAA official confirmed that the release below indicates that the D1 Council has endorsed a concept where players will be able to transfer multiple times with immediate eligibility as long as written notification is provided within the necessary dates.

I am almost to the point of giving up on college sports. This will likely be the last straw.

Awful. You should get 1 "no sit" transfer

After that.....you're sitting out a year---better make a serious decision on your future
I don't even like giving a 1 "no sit" year, but I'm willing to compromise that if there are no others.
