When it was held at midnight it was great; the focus was basketball. When it began being held at a 'reasonable' hour, it became a kids circus where basketball was barely secondary.

It also used to be literally the earliest possible first practice of the season and then those restrictions were relaxed and then relaxed some more (and now there’s a summer camp), so it has lost its raison d’être.

You could do an exhibition and make it a party-like atmosphere free event if you wanted as a replacement for “Madness.”

I understand the rules changed. And you can mark this change as the beginning of the end of what made college basketball one of the best college sports around ... before money drove everything.

I'll say it...The Mason Mile idea/event seems lame as F. What exactly is the point? Plus this 30 second video of the Mason Mile event doesn't really help with promoting it and showing off the event. Just some dudes with signs walking or running and a dj.

Just looks piss pour... lazily thrown together.... just run or walk a mile and then high five everyone at the end and then go watch a practice? Ummm ok.

IMO...They need to bury this Mason mile idea.

In the future IF they keep this event....Marvin, Tony, and the Team should put together a longer video explaining the importance of this event and try to get sponsors to provide gifts or discounts of their products for people participating in it. Can also provide more discounts or freebies if people finish within a certain amount of time.

Or pick a charity in the DC area and make this a charitable event to get more people out of all ages - The Mason Mile to help stop Alzheimers, Cancer, Suicide, etc.

Bring back Mason Madness. Ask for donations from attendees if it's a strain on the wallet/program. People can scan a code on a piece of paper for a $5 or $10 donation to the program for entry.

They did have drawings for various prizes--new Roku tv for the winner of musical chairs, trip to GW game, airbuds, etc. But I don't think they were announced/advertised ahead of time.

Trip to the GW game, a metro card? Uber gift card?
