2026-2027 Season Schedule Thread

Someone I used to know in the AD said that the thing with fraternity or sorority reach out is that they cared more about the group picture or getting the shoutout from the announcer than going wild cheering during the game. A lot of them would leave at halftime or after they got whatever we offered to encourage them to come.

It is good that they are responding.

In some ways, they are in a difficult position.
-need to raise more money in order to keep coach, attract/retain players.
-need to increase the STH base & increase game attendance

So they:
-provide steep discounts to games that aren't big draws. That helps get better attendance at those games but STHs see that and realize that they could drop their season tickets along with the annual seat charge to maintain current seat and still attend most games in decent seats at a lower cost.
-Gold Room is popular, so "supply and demand" argues that you raise membership cost, especially give complaints that Gold Room is "too crowded".

Getting the price point right isn't all that easy.
This is one of the more reasonable responses I've seen to the issue of season tickets on this forum.

Mason and South Florida finalizing a home and home. November 21st in Fairfax and 27/28 at South Florida. Per Rocco miller
Good news again. Nice home matchup, probably the last one before any MTE and certainly last home matchup before Thanksgiving.

South Florida has been pretty solid recently bar the year they had their coach die of a post-operation issue right before the 24-25 season. One of the more ambitious teams in the American, hired Chris Mack to replace Brian Hodgson, who left for Providence. So won't be the high tempo, high speed team that GW saw last year, but should be a nice add to the schedule. Will not be less than a Q3 game at home, which is good and return matchup next year should be Q2 at minimum.

Not many complaining about increasing prices, just being non-transparent about it and trying to lock people in before they know what they’re getting into financially (not cool). Reminds me of DC United’s automatic ST package they locked people into when Audi Field opened up (that is incredibly hard to cancel). Pissed a lot of long-time STHs off.

They’re finally doing what I’ve been advocating for for a long time: sign more home-and-homes with the better mid-major programs out there.

I’d like to see us sign one with Wilmington: for nostalgia reasons, because Wilmington is a good trip even in November, and because they’ve been a top 2 program in the CAA since we’ve left and will be a good game.

I will also say the fraternity and sorority life office at GMU is not the greatest they are always backed up from what I’ve heard and doing anything with Greek life you need to go through them. Adds a challenge trying to get frats to the games.

Isn’t that a Byzantine approach as opposed to reaching out via Instagram and picking a date that works for that chapter?

Radical idea for EBA: put all season ticket holders in one dedicated section with first-come, first-served seating. Show up early, get the best seats.

A lot of season ticket seats end up empty, which hurts the atmosphere and doesn’t look great on TV. A dedicated season ticket section would keep the crowd looking fuller, bring more energy, and make pricing a lot simpler.

Mason could still offer premium tiers through perks like Gold Room access, meet-and-greets, and special events rather than reserved seat locations.

I’m in my seats early but don’t many gold room attendees spend time in there and then late to sit? GA seating would be chaos if people aren’t sitting down and staying.

No. I want my seats, the same seats, each game. I'm not fighting for a place to sit like I'm still in college.
