Welcome Riley Allenspach

He will get paid by a P5 because of how the big man market is transpiring... again.

But calling a spade a spade- much less sad about this one than Kory. Defense was consistently awful, ball security was bad during many games, struggled being the real number one option when Kory's thumb took him out of the equation.

Won't batter him for leaving because of the money he's likely to get, but I am not sure the offensive bag translates to the P5 and I'm fairly sure barring a major jump from him that the defense doesn't translate either.

As always when it comes to the 5 spot, in Steve Curran and staff we trust!

It's a bit ironic that with everyone's talk about "allegiance", that Mason poached both Allenspach and Mincy from lower- level conferences. They moved to Fairfax for a step up in visibility and, presumably, some increase in NIL. They had good years and now their market value is likely higher and they seek to advance their situation.

Would I prefer that the old system was in place with limited transfers and no extraordinary windfalls for athletes? You bet I would. But right now, we're hoping to poach some additional promising transfers who won't have allegiance to their current universities.

Its the name of the game. He turned out to be an all 10 player after being a rotational player at Sanford. Just goes to show the coaching staff knows talent. Good luck Riley. Mason will get an equivalent or upgrade.

Looking. Forward to see who comes next..

Not a whole lot of shade playing behind Jaden Brownell who put up 27 against us and transferred to USC.

I also agree this could be an addition by subtraction moment because his defense (including his rebounding) was just not good.

Maybe if Mason’s diploma were actually worth something, some would stay instead of chasing a modest raise.

The service academies, for obvious reasons, aren’t feeling the effects of the portal the same way, which helps explain Navy’s success this year.

Can Mason guarantee a nearly $100K job for every athlete who stays four years? Obviously not realistic, but that’s essentially the service academy model, and it does seem to work to a degree.

Degrees in general from anywhere aren't going to matter as much anymore for entry-level jobs for a bit. I feel terrible for the next two or three graduating classes heading into the biggest employer's market since 2008. Will recover but it's a mixture of market correction from overhiring in 2021-2023 and also AI to a lesser extent.
