I get the emotion of feeling jilted. They come in, take our money, provide us with entertainment by playing for a season (to be fair, sometimes very well), say thank you and then leave for greener ($$$) pastures. If they leave after one year it really should be good riddance. Don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out.
But what if Tony's pitch is--"come here for a year, prove your worth, and make your fortune next year at a P5"? And there's a past history of players who have done well for themselves doing just that. The "pitch" works for us--gets us a desired recruit, if only for a year--and it works for them as they use Mason as a stepping stone to a bigger payday. Strictly transactional.
Does that make us feel better?
