Liberty seems to play with a 7 man rotation and even their subs don't really score it that much. Translation..... drive the lane and get to the line! Get them in foul trouble so they have to rotate guys in as they are not deep at all. This is where our depth will destroy them.

We have size on them all day... probably like a lot of their past opponents. They are going to shoot outside. They shoot 40% from 3, so they are going to look to shoot the 3 as much as possible.... probably going to shoot at least 30 3's.

Our guards need to play out on them... make Liberty beat us inside.

I guess it will depend which team shows up. We've been Jekell and Hyde over the last few games. What we need is a combination of brains and brawn for a change. Let's have a game plan and stick to it until it needs changing, and then change it. Let's play with intensity the entire game, not the first or last five minutes.

And please God, don't let these players do what Dave Paulson's team did in his last CBI game and goof off forcing Tony to bench them because they are embarrassing the program. Especially in front of the loyal customers who have paid their salaries while they were at Mason.

I started watching the NBA in the days of Willis Reed, Clyde Frazier, Jerry Lucas, Bill Bradley, Earl Monroe, Dave Debusscher, etc.
I stopped watching when when MJ, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, etc. retired.

That said, I believe the team will be up for it. ESPN2 and the only live college hoops for 40 minutes until the game on TruTV kicks in. It's TruTV, many viewers will NOT incorrectly be led to believe that the GMU game is the more important game.

Win 2 and you've surpassed last year's great team's results in the NIT. Win 3 and it's one for the record books. Hell, win one and I hear Reno's a good time, not that the squad will have much time for that.

I think it is a coin flip in terms of how the team performs. Given their recent ups and downs, I would hope CTS got a read on the teams mentality before accepting NIT invite (or maybe in our position we don't have the luxury of declining).

In the SBU game I didn't see the exact same lack of effort in our blowouts to Richmond, St Joes, GW, etc. - they started well, built a double digit lead, just something wasn't clicking in the 2nd half. SBU was also playing much better than their resume in all 3 of their tournament games.

So I'll be optimistic against Liberty until proven otherwise - they just better defend the 3 like their season (and for some college career) depends on it.

Hoping for, but not expecting, a win.

We are favored by 4.5 - I'd be super concerned if Liberty was favored (or then again maybe that would motivate these guys to come out like they did vs SLU). Who knows.
