From a 50,000 foot level… a home win and away loss by 5 to vcu is a good outcome in any year.
More importantly, it’s encouraging to see us play well again after a cathartic home win vs the Bonnies. Hope we show this on Saturday and keep the momentum going - anything is possible in Pittsburgh if we show up.

I'm not Angry at team or even about game, they fought they played hard. First time in a long time thinking we legit had a chance to win that game on their court but with a rigged deck unfortunately you have to be damn near perfect. Lets just send them and their stupid little fans home crying on Friday or Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Much better showing than I was expecting. The refs ruined the game by falling for the usual euro flopping, as always happens there. The double foul was a joke - just call the first foul and there wouldn't be a double foul. Hope when we see them on a neutral court the refs do a better job.
Allenspach needs to stop worrying about fouling out. After his third, he stopped trying for blocks. The series of balls thrown to nobody did us in down the stretch. Not gonna win there with 10 TO's.
Happy to see Mincy getting his form back. If he and Long both get hot, we could win a few games in Pittsburgh. Hope springs eternal.

The refs also cheated us in last year's A10 conference tournament championship game too. Jalen Haynes got hit tons of times down low last year and refs barely called any fouls on vcu players. Jack Clark also started the fight in that game too, should've been a flagrant 1 on him.

Come on, dude, at least own your shtick of shitting on Riley after every game. The kid put up a double-double tonight and battled his a** off, and your main takeaway from tonight’s game is to trash him and act like he’s a big reason we lost.
I've been highly Critical of Riley but tonight was not on him. It really wasn't on anyone. He got tired i think but he played hard the whole game. Long didn't shoot well but you have to live with that, it happens. Wasn't lack of effort. The lack of effort by the team in the losing Streak was what was so upsetting. Ellington missing a couple bunnies was annoying but even he battled back. Honestly not to beat a broken drum but the refs and 4th foul on Kory changed the whole ending of the game. Maybe they still lose the game but it sure would have been nice to find out what Kory could have done!
No shame in losing a close game to vcu on their home court, especially when the refs are calling the game like they did. Players battled hard and had it in a position to take it if they could have just gotten one more stop and one more bucket, which is a lot better than we saw during our slump.
It just sucks we let Duquesne, Richmond, St. Joes, and Dayton walk all over us. That’s what makes this game sting all the more.
Lessons learned (hopefully). Let’s get win number 11 against SLU.

lol the way refs favor vcu when we play them every year is insane
Especially the flagrant on Kanga, several “fouls” called against Mincy and Riley.
Riley gets fouled at the end, knocking the ball out and off of his hands and out of bounds - vcu gets the ball and we lose a timeout on the unsuccessful challenge.
I do have to say I thought it was insane to let them run about 20 secs off the clock on their last full possession, instead of fouling and extending. That decisono sealed the game.
Sorry, I think we are a better overall team with Kanga at the 5. He blocks the middle and makes the other teams think twice about dribble penetration. Riley is a good offensive player , But overall he is very poor defender. Its not shtick its obvious when you watch all our games, I have nothing against the kid , he is just a poor 5.

Kanga was a -13 and Riley was a +7...
Not that it matters, the final score is what it is, but the raw number of fouls called on both teams does not necessarily indicate a fairly officiated game.
The possession Mason lost at the end when Djokovic came over Riley’s back and Riley lost the ball out of bounds may have been the most crucial sequence of the game. That simply has to be called a foul in that situation.
Mincy was also called very tightly on the defensive end. Would’ve been nice to see what he could’ve done without being inhibited by a couple really ticky-tack fouls on a night when they let a lot of hard contact go.
But it’s par for the course in Richmond. Been going to games at vcu for almost 40 years — you know you’re never getting an even whistle and probably never will. Gotta find a way to win anyway.
Kanga was a -13 while he was in the game. Whatever positives he brings on defense is overridden by the evidence that our offense isn't as effective when he is in the game and Riley isn't.
Don't get me wrong, I think he has a lot of potential as a rim protector. Giving hard fouls is one thing...but he needs to dial back a bit and not pick up unnecessary fouls. The flagrant foul was a correct call. Also he needs more development as an offensive threat to become the all-conference player that he is capable of.

Riley had 32min to Kanga s 12, +\- doesn't tell the story especially on D when he blocks 2 shots has 3 rebounds but more importantly blocks the middle where +\- doesn't take into account. I guess we will agree to disagree on this point.
