"All the OOC games are done and conference play begins tomorrow with Duquesne at Davidson - a rather uneventful opening game.

St. Louis looks like the only contender for an at-large bid and has to stay solid through the A10 grind. Phil Jr. could get vcu there but is 0-3 in Quad 1 games. Everyone else looks to be on the outside looking in without winning the conference tournament thanks to some December stumbles.

The A10 went 2-19 in Quad 1 games with Richmond and Rhode Island notching the only Q1 wins (Belmont and Yale - doubtful those teams will still be in Quad 1 by March). The A10 feels weak this year with 5 teams in the bottom half of the NET."

TeamNET Ranking (as of 12/29)
St. Louis26
vcu58
George Washington81
George Mason84
Dayton90
St. Bonaventure97
Rhode Island106
Richmond108
Davidson119
Duquesne169

St. Louis is a paper tiger. That NET is based upon beating lousy teams by large margins. They played 0 Quad 1 games and were just 1-1 in Quad 2 games with no P5 wins (they only played one P5 and lost that one). The Selection Committee is going to look at that OOC schedule and move on to the next team.

GW whooping LaSalle at home, GW wins by 22. They had no answer for Castro.

Loyola was up 10 on Dayton but Dayton down 2 to Loyola Chicago at LC with 3 mins to go. LC just chucking 3's this game hoping to make a bunch and seems to have been working.... 9-30 from 3.

Seems like we got some favorable media on USA this weekend. We got 3 of the top 10 plays in the A10 OOC video they put together.

Also during the Richmond/Fordham game today one of the announcers kept talking about GMU. Apparently it was Derek Whitteburg, who was the Fordham coach from 03-09. But he was also a GMU assistant coach during the 86-87 season.

GW at Dayton, 2 pt underdog, down 8, with 4 min left. Flyers are without their center, L'Etang. CBS Sports Network (FIOS 594).
Interesting sidelight--Eric Lewis, husband of VB-L is one of the refs.
