Pretty sure their jump to $5Mil is from the House settlement agreement and not straight collective. Just a guess.

Listening to the 3 bid league podcast, they thought as long as LUC beat Chicago State, no matter the rest of the season, Valentine could survive.

I liken it too ... imagine, if you will ... Mason against a very bad, 1-9 bad, vcu team at home. We lose by 9. Imagine the fallout. It's really bad.

Or the year the eventual 1-15 Cowboys only victory came at RFK against the Redskins. It's really bad.

I would think in this era with the constant roster turnover, schools should be more understanding of clunkers of seasons like this one for LoChi - they made the NIT with 23+ win seasons each of the last two years and the NIT semi's last year. Valentine should have earned a little more rope.

Trade all the players at the deadline for draft picks, and rebuild next year.

Really? Granted that Loyola has been terrible this year, but Valentine the last couple of years has been hailed as a rising star in coaching ranks. Unless there is some uprising among the players or bad behavior, I don't think you ditch the guy after one bad year.

Dream scenario is we both basically win out/finish with no more than ~4 losses and then we beat them at home in our regular season finale to put ourselves inside the bubble and win regular season/#1 seed.

St. Louis would have tough road to at-large given that their best three OOC wins were against 4th, 5th and 6th best teams in the WCC. Only played one P4 and lost that game.

Your Net ranking may get you in the conversation, however who you played and beat in the OOC is huge- especially for a mid-major.

I suspect when you lose to Chicago State, there are legitimate questions coming about your job status.
