This was maybe my 10th time for going
i thought it was OK
but would be fantastic if you had little kids
Event started off with both teams signing team posters in the lobby, a great chance to meet the players
Starts with Music and dance performances by
The Green Machine, the Cheerleader, The Mason Dance Team, and the HBCU-inspired dance team - which has doubled in size and the GMU Hip Hop Dance Team
Team intros - with A-10 Trophies carried out - and luckily no one slipped coming down the steps
short talk by the coaches and intro and short talk by the Team Captains
No Simon Says contest this year
Women played a version of name that tune
There was an on-court contest that was screwed up as one team had 5 members and the other had 4 - so the 4-person team finished first and won
Introduction of a Family of the Year
a mixed team drill with a student - layup, free throw, half court shot followed by
an unorganized 3 pt contest
and on the plus side the Ticket Office had a table where you could buy tix
So, it is not for the BBall diehards seeking information on game strategy/offensive and defensive sets - but i would have preferred giving each team member 30 seconds with the mic to introduce themselves
and an additon of a dance contest between the teams
and i would have preferred the Green Machine playing longer and featuring their new songs
Attendance looked to be about the same as last season - despite the WVB starting their match at 6 pm in the RAC
I did not time it but it seemed to be shorter than last season
