ODU is loaded with experienced talent...lots of double digit primary scorers out of the portal + they return one of the most prolific perimeter shooters in the nation from last year, Robert Davis Jr...that will be a touch

We lose Haynes. We lose key players. You can’t expect to hit the ground running instantly.

Was just thinking we lost a lot of really talented defenders, but outside of Haynes and Maddox, we didn’t have a whole lot of talented scorers on the team. With all the double digit scorers we have coming in hopefully we will be harder to defend overall and won’t have to rely on Haynes and Maddox to manufacture the offense all by themselves.

I’ll also be curious to see how we do defensively. Losing Newton, Billups, and KD on that side of the ball will be tough, but this staff did wonders their first season with Amari Kelly and Keyshawn Johnson on the interior and neither one of them were known as lockdown defenders until they got here.

The great thing about having so many seniors is even though they are still new to Tony’s system and each other, they understand team defense principles on the college level. Athleticism won’t be an issue either so as long as they communicate effectively I would expect them to hit the ground running in November.

I hate how last year might have been a golden chance for us to get back on the nation's radar and we ended up in a subpar NIT field that noone apart from the schools playing cared about.

And this year might be a building year.

LOL please explain how having a roster with most of the projected rotation players in their final year of eligibility could possibly be considered a building year?

As if “building years” are still a thing these days…

Well that’s a fair question isn’t it? Are we trying to microwave a team too much and should we build more long term where there’s less of a zero margin for error.
