Agree… it’d be an overhaul. But on the flip side, you have to believe we’d hire a guy with a few of his own followers. It’s the world in which we live, esp being a mid major that doesn’t recruit itself like the blue bloods…

Me too. I have never pulled for Rick Barnes, and if he bails I won't pull for KE either.
Same with Hewitt. Just wanted a paycheck.
Coach L? Yeah, pull for him like crazy.
DP? Sure. He did his best for us.

JesseJ makes a plausible argument. I do hope Henry stays. He's improved every year and (barring a stud big-man transfer), stands to get big minutes next year. He and Ginika could make a passable big-man team - not the offense of Oduro, but comparable to most A10 bigs. And his intensity makes him a fan favorite.

I'd like to see Dinkins stay too. Maybe with some good coaching and more playing time, he could become a decent PG for us. Not an Ace Baldwin, but maybe an Otis Livingston.

Agree with JPgmuswim that the vast majority of the team is gonna be in the portal.

Agree, I would be shocked if more than 2 or 3 guys stick around for the next guy.

Best case scenario: convince Ronnie, Malik, Ojiako, and Dinkins to stay (would love Fernandez! but I’d guess he’s Providence bound) and then any two of the freshmen to keep their commitment.

You’d have 3 seniors, 1 sophomore, and 2 freshman to build around and would probably need to find 3 starters in the portal. That’s a lot but that’s also basically what English did (Schwartz, Ticket, Cooper). The other 4 scholarships can go to projects.

Providence is almost certainly poised to double Kim’s salary. And even if Mason matched that, Providence could still outbid us without getting close to the $3.75M they were paying Cooley.

The reality is if a P5 or Big East school wants our coach badly enough, there’s not much we can do about it.

F him. He didn't win here, wasted 2 years of building a meh roster with very meh results. Lost Kolek and Miller in the portal. He is outstanding in working the community and social media though, I can give him that credit. that's what 34 year-olds do these days. He can't commit anywhere for more than 2 years.

he is NOT worth what Providence is soon to be paying him. He can take our entire roster with him sans Ronny and Malik as they bleed green and gold. All of them were overhyped anyways.

Exactly. Mason is a stepping stone just like Providence is.

There's a handful of schools that benefit from getting whomever they want and keeping them; everyone else is playing the same game (albeit at different levels.)

I won't speculate on this because we have no idea, but I will say this. If a guy like Ronnie sticks around after not one, but two coaching changes, you won't ever see me complain about that kid's play. That's total loyalty to the school that I don't even know if it's deserved.

Kim English is bush league for leaving without winning anything or finishing at least four years. I’ve lost all respect for him. If he would have won something or got us into the tournament he would have had his pick of P5 schools. Instead he runs to the first P5 school that wants him and leaves the GMU basketball program in ruins after two years.

Find someone who is willing to stick around until they have at least won something.
