It feels weird trying to play peacemaker, but I have to say I agree with both @jessej and @Quentin Daniels on this one.

Nothing wrong with young people believing in themselves and wanting to take a shot at playing for a better program and/or in a higher-level league. Anyone who has ever changed jobs knows what that’s like, and it doesn’t always work out. There’s risk involved in putting your name in the portal and that should be understood by all parties.

At the same time, a lot of these kids are getting terrible advice or being outright deceived to go into the portal based on the promise of something that isn’t real. That’s unfortunate because getting a free college education is a big deal and we’re doing young people a disservice by making it seem like an afterthought to NIL and instant gratification.

So endeth my Ted talk.

No issues w/any of that. None at all.

Sleeperpick's keyboard-warrior schtick of constantly bashing kids gets old though. Non-stop w/that guy.

Who remembers him declaring the A10 Rookie of the Year a bust before he even set foot on campus?

He admitted he was wrong on that one. As someone who has gotten stuff wrong about our program once or a hundred times over the past 11 years, I think it might be time to let it go.

1)

2)

3) look at how many of the GMU transfers out went to lesser schools/conferences
and the opposite for the transfers in

4) do a sort on the file and you will see that there are a large number of players with no offers - most are 2 stars with a smattering of 3, 4 and 5 star rankings

i wonder if schools like GWU, with a late coaching hire could put together a decent roster with the available 3 star and higher players?

5) Someone on the Board mentioned this fact - there are a whole lot of players who will not be getting a free education via a basketball scholarship

6) I wonder how many of the 2 stars were forced out - either by coaching change, poor performance or being recruited over?

7) i hope this is a tough lesson learned for all involved in overrating your skill set and value to a team

It would be interesting to see the percentage of players who transferred "up" to a better conference versus the percentage who transferred "down." My guess is that the overwhelming majority of players transferred "down."

In that context, it's impressive that four of last year's transfers were "up."
Kolek --> Marquette
Miller --> Miami
Wilson --> South Carolina
Greene --> South Florida

It can't be all about basketball and over estimating their ability etc. God knows how many non athlete students get somewhere and then finish somehwere else.

Prior to the portal, if you got to a school and a program, it was a big deal to figure out what to do next and get transferred when it hit you "this place isn't for me"-basketball, academics, etc.

Now its easy. I imagine some of this is just being able to make a decision and with less entanglement and see if something better is out there.

That's not really the point. He could've gotten it right and it's still a $hitty move to be dumping on your own recruits before they even arrive. As well as the constant bad-mouthing of players and coaches. It's a sports message board, so yeah, there's always going to be a bit of backseat coaching and evaluating, but it's non-stop, over-the-top negativity w/him and twice as much as anyone else.

He even owned up to at one point w/a deleted post and a "I'm going to try and do better admission" which I thought was great at the time. But it's empty words.

So not crushing anyone for getting stuff wrong (& your hundred times estimate is probably low ;)) I'm in that boat too. I just don't much feel like taking ish from a poster who's one of the worst fans on this board. And seems like a jerk in real life too.

you took jessej's words wrong as he clearly stated after and switched subjects to me shitting on players... it's all good. I love CKE and 99% of this roster so consider me positive penny! The people that like me in real life off of these boards are 100x better than the B's that don't so you are in super mentally stable company. if you ever make it to a game I'll get you in the gold room!
