The Terps were picked #5 in preseason Big 10 polls. They are currently ranked #21 in the nation.
In a preseason prospectus Thomas Beindit wrote, “The Terps aren’t going to be picked to win the league or make the Final Four, but this team has a chance to win plenty of games and make some noise in March. There’s talent, experience, and enough upside for Maryland to take off this season.”
The roster has gone through major changes from last year. The Terps added 2 new recruits in 4 star Ike Cornish and 4 star Julian Reese. Six transfers complete the rebuild of the roster. The six transfers are 6’8” Pavlo Dziuba (Arizona St.), 6’6” Xavier Green (ODU), 6’3” Ian Martinez (Utah), 5’10” Fatts Russell (Rhode Island), 6”11” Qudus Wahab (Georgetown), and 6”7” Simon Wright (Elon). One key returnee is Eric Ayala who averaged 15.1 ppg and 4.3 reb per game last season.
Maryland is currently 3-0 on the season. Statistical leaders are Fatts Russell (16.3 ppg), Eric Ayala (15.3 ppg & 4.3 reb) Qudus Wahab (13.7 ppg & 9.7 reb), Donta Scott (8.0 ppg & 7.7 reb), and Julian Reese (8.0 & 5 reb ppg).
Wins: Quinnipiac (83-69), GW (71-64), Vermont (68-57)

My prediction: You heard it here first. We fear no one, especially a damn turtle! GMU 75 - Terps 74. The nation starts to take notice.
