TOC should frame that quote and put it on his desk to remind him of what a great hire he made.

In isolation, losing in OT to the number 10 in the country is nothing to be ashamed of. This record, with it's blown leads and blow outs to the likes of South Florida, St. Bona, Georgia State, Dayton etc., etc,. etc., is the reason Hewitt needs to go. After almost 100 games coaching GMU, it's apparent the guy can't sustain good play.

Unfortunately, it was apparent before he came to GMU - which makes the state of GMU basketball all the more maddening.

After the night just a few more thoughts:

Im having a hard time with Moore. He does good things, but he very clearly limits the offense and Im not confident on him developing a shot while he is here. Not having one is killer, and teams will continue to just play off him and fall back on D. For a kid thats shot this way his entire life apparently, I dont have much stock in him changing in 3 years. While some point to Bryon Allen improving.....Allen had a shot to begin with, he didnt require a total overhaul.

Holloway is fading on me. I still think he is solid and will develop, I just cant ignore the amount of possesions he wastes with quick trigger horrible selection 3's.

In games that come down to a matter of a point or so (in regulation) you start thinking at what was the difference. To me, it comes down to officiating: Moores and 1 that went the other way..... the call was reminiscent of the replacement refs touchdowninterception and then the T on Hewitt. 5 point swing there.

Tonight guys played their hearts out and particularly 2 went off.....what do they get in return? A coach that blows everything with 5 seconds left, by doing something that produced the same exact result a matter of weeks ago. Hewitt has the killer instinct of a 45 pound dachsund....and it has cost us again.

Agreed. It's odd because we need his ability to create opportunities for his teammates, but really has zero jump shot which makes him a massive liability as well. When he's in, the other teams defense tends to just hang back in the lane since there's no threat at all when he's left wide open -- which is a big problem.

The hard part, is its not only a bad shot....but its clear he has little to no confidence in his own shot. Much like in other games he had all sorts of space to take a 3 or jumper.....he just refuses, and continues to dribble.

While he is pretty good at getting into the lane, I wonder if that will eventually subside as his man will continue to be off him and will have time to react faster than being up on him.

Another off night for Copes. He plays a full game this time but only gets 4 pts. How many times does he get the ball and instant, deer in the headlight. It either bouces off his mittens, he travels (more then once last night, is he too indecisive?) or takes a bad outside shot? Shouldn't he be making his way to the basket while dribbling the ball and creating fouls and getting to the line.

I wish Will Thomas would come back and teach him how to back into a defender and put up shots. That would make a world of difference.

I'm not worried about Moore. Despite how ugly his shot looks, it's no worse than Allen's jump shot in his first 2 years. BA has made incredible strides to improve his jumper and I'll look for Moore to do the same. Having said that, Moore, Jenkins and Holloway will lead this team next season, but the only way this team competes for any type of postseason next year is if Julian Royal is the next coming of Towson's Jerelle Benimon.

There are tons of point guards that come in with bad outside shots as freshmen and develop one. Again, the guy shoots 75% from the line already, the cause isn't hopeless.

And there are guys like Maynor and Siva that never develop a shot, really, and still make the NBA.

Those young men played their hearts out and to that I have the highest respect but what does the future holds with this team? Next year Holloway will be the offensive go-2 guy but after that this team is DEAD offensively because there will be a void as to who can provide in the back court offensive scoring?......Fact: Moore will never have a short range J because shooting is something you either have or you don't and Moore don't(worse looking form in college bball) and will never have a short or long range J and that is why teams play off him from 10ft and beyond. Jenkins is a 4 and a very good one at that but to try and covert him into a 3 will be a mistake because he too can't shoot the J from 10ft and beyond. Gray by most accounts is GONE(let's not fool ourselves this dude can shoot) it will be foolish for Gray to stay and play for Hewitt and the sad thing is Gray could be the offensive key for this team next year and with Holloway and Gray on the floor together could have resulted in one of the best scoring back courts in the A10 next year. AO will be a none factor for Hewitt next year and as for the FRESHMEN they are not lights out on the offensive end either so if anyone believes this team will be better next year then I have beach front property in the North Pole. This year could have been a special year with a REAL head coach and coaching staff.

Ps: Stop pipe dreaming this is the best it will get because after this year.......ALL DOWN HILL. Everyone knows in the underground bball circles that HEWITT can't coach and I told you guy's this 2 years ago. Once again I tip my hat off to those young men who could've had a special year with the right head coach. This could've been a top 20-team....Top contender at the A10 tourney as well as dancing in March but this team had to endure one heart breaking lost after another. I love the heart these young men showed but to the powers that be: PLEASE......FIRE THE HEAD COACH AND STAFF BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Yes in theory that is true, but in this case his shot is flawed fundamentally. Its just not an issue of going in the hole. He may shoot 75% from the line, when nobody is guarding him....but he cant hit that shot in the game....hes shown that.

Maynor, Siva, Rondo etc are 100% different from Moore....so lets not even act as if they are peers or even use their name in this situation....its very far fetched and ridiculous to compare NBA players to Moore.

Calm down about Moore. He's a freshman. He'll get better. He and Jalen are the two bright spots in this disaster of a season.

I think (wish, hope, pray) that we'll run a lot more next year. That would mask Moore's main weakness while allowing him to develop in the halfcourt game.

Just for the record, that is hardly fact at all. See Copes, Marko, Corey Edwards etc etc etc.

Nobody is saying hell flame out, but there are some legit issues with his game.
