"It's the first time Kanga has garnered the weekly accolade and the first time a Patriot has earned the honor since Baraka Okojie on Jan. 29, 2024.

Kanga put together a strong week for George Mason while averaging 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and shooting 90 percent in two wins.

The Libreville, Gabon, product, began the week by dropping a career-best 17 points (7-8 FG) to go along with eight rebounds in a 80-75 win at La Salle. He followed that up by tallying all eight of his points in the second half and grabbing four rebounds in a 61-50 win over Rhode Island. Overall, he pulled down 12 rebounds in 33 total minutes of action.

On the season, he leads the Patriots in offensive rebounds (27) and is second in overall rebounding (72). He also is second on the team in blocks (11).

Kanga's offensive rebounding percentage of 22.6 percent and defensive percentage of 31.1 percent are tops in the A-10 by a significant margin."

His freshman year was clearly not mistake-free, but I thought EK consistently played with a level of energy, speed and athleticism that shows he can take big leaps forward. Just the eye-test... he did things on the court that moved at a different speed at a different level. (Granted - sometimes that led to 3 fouls before the Under8 timeout in the first half...)

Kanga, O'Conner & Pendergrass could be a sneaky-awesome core for next year.

I thought he had a great freshmen year, I think coach Curran could help him make a big jump next season. Glad to see he’s sticking around.
By the end of the year Kanga was playing better than Riley. If I remember correctly, Mason cut Liberty’s lead when Riley was sent to the bench. I think an argument could be made that Mason wins that game if that substitution was made sooner.

He has all the tools. After a summer of lifting and skill work, he’s gonna be a handful next season.
Indeed. Lamar and Tony should break out some old Will Thomas videos for Kanga to watch this summer, because they have similar games in the post. Every opponent we played knew exactly what Will's range and moves were in the paint, but they still had trouble containing him. The sky is the limit for this team if Emmanuel can make a similar jump that Will made from his freshman to sophomore year.
