I like gemini's lineup as well, but I'm wondering if we are better playing Royal at the 3 and Jenkins at the 4 since Royal reported has the better perimeter shot.

Imagine how much our team would improve if we could pencil Copes in for 12 points and 8 boards a game. The problem is we can't rely on him from game to game. I thought somebody made a good point that he really seemed to make a concerted effort not to get in foul trouble against St. Louis, so maybe there is hope after all. The kid is oozing with potential, but time is running out.

What concerns me about next year is who do we have to replace Allen? And if Holloway replaces Wright, then who replaces Holloway's production? I'd like to think that Gray is the answer, but we all hoped that coming into this year. Not sure if there is an exit out of Hewitt's doghouse after this long.

I like Jenkins at the 3 because of his tenacity and quickness defending the perimeter. Royal to me looks more like a "smooth" face up 4, but not an explosive player like Jenkins is.

I would suspect you would see Jenkins posting up a lot of smaller players and Royal pulling opposing team's fours out to the perimeter anyway so they might look interchangeable.

Cool. I honestly have to defer to you and Jim, because I've only seen the highlight reel of him at Tech. Is there a former player of ours or somebody else in CAA/A10 he reminds you of?

This is a Hewitt thread, please confine your non-Hewitt related stuff, like future rosters, to all the other threads, unless it is how Hewitt's coaching will affect their play. ;)

Name another roster in the A10 that does not have players with limitations. That Jett guy has limitations, but they still manage to get excellent play out of him.

I take full responsibility for that, Brian. I detoured us into a conversation about players, and I agree that probably warrants its own thread. To get us back on track, I have little to no confidence Hewitt will get the most out of this current group of players.

Imagine how much our team would improve if we could pencil Copes in for 12 points and 8 boards a game.

His current stats are:
3.3 ppg
3.9 rpg
3.4 fpg

The team would vastly improve if he could get to 5 pts 6 boards and cut down on the excessive fouling... my very uneducated opinion is that he has bad footwork, which hampers him defensively and with rebounding. His lack of great athleticism hinders his rebounding also, since in hewitt's offense he is often out of good rebounding position..

Copes' finished the last two months of last season averaging 8 pts, 7 rebs in 27 minutes per game.

You could definitely see he was concentrating on not fouling and unnecessarily leaving his feet for blocks, vs STL.

I see no reason he can't play at that level if he gets 25 min's a game.

Where is the latest confidence thread? Given the trend, we should over 50% confident now. I know I am ready to post a yes vote now.

I've got an itchy trigger finger looking to cast a yes vote. Can't wait for the new poll. I wouldn't be surprised if we hit 100% in the next one.

I'm thinking the next poll will open just after the Duquesne game. We'll be watching for newly registered users who are voting. If any come from the same IPs, we'll remove them.
