vcu and SLU kept most of their returning players and upgraded in the portal. Dayton and GW lost alot but added multiple upgrades vs their previous roster.

Was just thinking the same thing. Caputo recruits P4 transfers who generate offseason buzz but has no clue how to coach them to become a cohesive unit. Finishing ninth with the roster he had last season should’ve been cause for a pink slip.

Put numbers next to 5 presumed starters, but not at all predicting who is a starter - will be a lot of uncertainty about who will start outside of Okojie until season starts. A lot of our G's can play 1, 2 or 3, and our F's can play 3/4/5 or 4/5. Still looking for a big big man/true 5, but we have again built a deep roster where there will be more competition than minutes available (which is good).

I think anyone we add from here is gonna be a project player / depth. Not enough minutes to go around unless we are planning to recruit over someone we just spent a lot of money on.

All right... I finally had a moment to seek and compllile the poop regarding interesting details of the portal process.

Although players can technically commit later, most top transfers aim to decide by the end of April, and they must be in the portal by April 21st to be considered. However, there is no hard deadline for a player who has already entered the portal by April 21 to commit to a new school.

Active recruiting ends April 30. This means that no "official visits" by players can take place after this date. An NCAA basketball "official visit" is a campus visit where the college covers expenses—transportation, lodging, meals, and event tickets—signifying serious recruiting interest. Recruits can take unlimited Division I official visits. These 48-hour visits allow recruits to meet coaches, watch practices, and tour facilities.

Unofficial visits are prospect-paid, unlimited, and can occur at any time [generally during this offseason outside of "dead periods"]. A dead period means coaches cannot have any in-person contact with recruits or their parents on or off campus, though phone calls and written correspondence are allowed.

Typical "dead periods" throughout the year include:.
August: Dead Period (Summer).
Nov. 10–13, 2025: Early Signing Period.
Dec. 24–26, 2025: Holiday Break.
